Sr. Lead Hydrogeology

Main Purpose:

To provide technical leadership and assurance in hydrogeology and groundwater management for subsurface energy projects by assessing baseline conditions, creating hydrogeological models, predicting impacts, managing risks, and supporting regulatory, environmental, and project decisions through sound hydrogeological science.

 Job Accountabilities:

• Lead hydrogeological assessments to characterize groundwater systems, aquifers, flow regimes, and hydraulic connectivity in project areas.
• Establish and oversee baseline groundwater data collection programmes including monitoring wells, sampling protocols and long-term datasets.
• Build, simulate and review conceptual and numerical hydrogeological models to evaluate groundwater behaviour under project and post-project scenarios.
• Assess groundwater-related risks including contaminant migration, aquifer interaction, pressure changes and long-term groundwater integrity.
• Provide technical inputs to environmental impact assessments, risk studies and regulatory submissions related to groundwater and subsurface water protection.
• Define and guide groundwater monitoring, mitigation and contingency plans aligned with environmental and regulatory expectations.
• Support regulatory and environmental teams by providing technical justifications, responses and clarifications to authorities and reviewers.
• Interface with geology, reservoir, environmental and process teams to ensure integrated subsurface understanding.
• Review third-party studies, consultant reports and data to ensure technical robustness and defensibility.
• Track and interpret national and international best practices related to groundwater protection, subsurface energy projects and environmental safeguards.
• Prepare and present technical reports, risk assessments and expert opinions to internal leadership and external stakeholders as required.
