Job description

Main Purpose:

To provide technical execution and operational execution for mine planning, geotechnical control and contractor management for subsurface projects ensuring safe, compliant and cost-effective extraction activities that meet project targets.


Job Accountabilities:

  • Execute short-term and medium-term mine plans and production schedules and coordinate with operations to meet targets.
  •  Optimise mining methods, panel layouts and sequences based on geological inputs and engineering judgement as designed by the seniors.
  • Monitor production performance, analyse variances and implement corrective actions to improve productivity and cost efficiency.
  • Oversee site geotechnical monitoring and ground control measures and work with geo-mechanics team to address stability or subsidence concerns.
  • Manage contractor performance on drilling, excavation, earthworks and allied activities to ensure service levels, safety and contractual compliance.
  • Support equipment selection, utilisation planning and basic lifecycle / maintenance coordination to maximise availability.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, safety and environmental requirements at site and actively participate in HSE reviews and incident investigations.
  • Maintain accurate operational records, production reports and mine diaries. Prepare inputs for management reporting.
  • Liaise with geology, reservoir, hydrogeology and project teams for integrated subsurface planning and execution.


Skills

  • Practical understanding of mine design, scheduling tools, geotechnical monitoring and production optimisation.
  • Strong operational focus, problem-solving skills and ability to manage contractors and multiple site priorities.
  • Good knowledge of HSE systems and statutory mine safety requirements.
  • Proficient with MS Office; familiarity with mine planning software (Surpac, Deswik, Vulcan or similar) is desirable.


Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Mining Engineering or allied discipline.


Experience:

  • 5-8 years of hands-on experience in mine planning and site operations (underground or surface), preferably in mining, energy or infrastructure projects.
