Sr. Lead Fire Engineer

Main Purpose:

To establish and govern fire safety frameworks and assurance mechanisms for coal gasification projects by overseeing system design adequacy, fire risk controls and regulatory compliance across project and operational phases.

Job Accountabilities:

• Define and govern fire safety standards, philosophies and system requirements applicable to project and site facilities.
• Review fire protection system designs for process units, underground installations, utilities and storage facilities.
• Oversee fire risk management practices including scenario analysis and critical fire risk controls.
• Act as the primary interface for fire authorities and statutory agencies for approvals, inspections and compliance matters.
• Review performance and reliability of fire detection, suppression and emergency systems and guide improvements.
• Provide expert inputs during project design reviews, construction safety planning and operational change management.
• Oversee investigation of major fire incidents and high-potential near misses and validate effectiveness of corrective actions.
• Drive continuous improvement in fire emergency preparedness, training and response capability.
• Review audit findings and ensure consistent fire safety governance and documentation standards across sites.
• Guide and technically mentor fire and safety personnel at site without direct people management accountability.
