Overview of the role
Al Futtaim Technologies is a leader in converged systems integration and provides complete business solutions to large, medium, and small customers that include networking solutions, IP telephony, infrastructure, contact centre solutions, business applications, ELV systems, professional audio-visual solutions and managed services. Data Network Engineer will provide support services to AFT’s AMC customers and on-site.
What you will do :
- Implement Data Network and ICT solutions in coordination with customers, principals, service providers, and business partners, ensuring all deployments meet approved design parameters and technical standards.
- Monitor and maintain enterprise-level network hardware and applications at customer premises to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
- Perform advanced diagnostics and continuous monitoring of data network infrastructure to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Oversee network engineering performance to ensure high system availability, reliability, and compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).
- Configure and install routers, Aruba and Cisco wireless controllers and switches, firewalls, and load balancers to support secure and efficient network operations
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including installation of service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations to ensure optimal system performance and security.
- Handle incident management (break/fix) activities by diagnosing issues, restoring systems to original specifications, and coordinating repair or replacement of faulty equipment.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant system technologies to ensure effective support and implementation of solutions.
- Respond to service requests and conduct preventive maintenance health checks to minimize disruptions and enhance system reliability.
- Execute change management activities in line with approved processes and operational standards.
- Ensure projects at customer sites are delivered within committed timelines, agreed scope, budget, and quality standards.
- Provide customer training on system usage and best practices to maximize solution effectiveness.
- Prioritize workload effectively to maximize productivity while minimizing customer downtime.
Skills
Required skills to be succeful :
- Strong expertise in Cisco, Aruba, and Alcatel-Lucent networking solutions, including switching and wireless technologies.
- Extensive experience in installing, configuring, and supporting network infrastructure such as routers, switches, wireless controllers, firewalls, WAN accelerators, DNS, and DHCP.
- Solid end-to-end project lifecycle experience, including requirements gathering, solution design, testing, implementation, documentation, and ongoing maintenance.
- In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (IGMP, IPSEC, VRRP, HSRP, STP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS) and strong understanding of OSI and TCP/IP models, with excellent incident and problem management capabilities.
What equips you for the role :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electronics, Telecom, IT, or Computer Science) or a related field.
- Valid CCNP Certification; CCIE is preferred
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in data networking, including routing & switching, infrastructure, Wi-Fi, and security/firewall solutions.
- Practical experience with network monitoring, diagnostic, and analytics tools, along with onsite support and management of customer network environments.
