Modern Workplace Engineer (M365 & Automation)

You will play a hands‑on engineering role focused on building and continuously improving a modern, highly automated Microsoft 365 environment spanning identity, endpoint management, and automation. Working as the senior escalation point alongside a L1/L2 team, you'll engineer scalable solutions that remove recurring issues, reduce manual effort, and enable secure, well‑governed AI use cases that drive real productivity.

Description
Design, build, and operate automation to reduce IT operational workload using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, or PythonEngineer self healing solutions, proactive remediations, and automated workflows to remediate recurring incidents at scaleOwn and manage M365 and Entra ID, including user lifecycle management, role based access control, conditional access, and identity governanceBuild, manage, and maintain MicrosoftIntune:
Device compliance and baselinesApplication packaging and software distributionEndpoint security and incident remediation
Act as L3 escalation for complex identity, endpoint, and automation related issuesPartner with Service Delivery to reduce ticket volumes through engineering fixes rather than manual responsesImplement and support AI enabled use cases (e.g. Copilot, internal agents, ticket summarisation, knowledge retrieval) with appropriate governance, retention, and guardrailsWork with business stakeholders (e.g. legal, finance, security) to translate use cases into secure, supportable solutionsContribute to integrations involving APIs and data feeds, particularly in regulated or fintech style environmentsProduce clear documentation, runbooks, and handover materials to enable ongoing operational support


Profile
7+ years of overall IT experience, including 3-5 years in a solutions engineering, systems engineering, or modern workplace roleStrong experience in Microsoft‑centric environments, particularly Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), and IntuneProven hands‑on automation experience using PowerShell, Python, Microsoft Graph APIs or scripted workflowsDeep understanding of identity and access management in modern cloud environments, including RBAC and lifecycle managementExperience managing endpoint environments at scale, with strong Windows expertise and solid macOS awarenessBackground working as an escalation point, with the ability to diagnose root causes and implement permanent fixesFamiliarity with AI tools such as Copilot, GPT‑based agents, or Claude, and an understanding of how to deploy them responsibly in an enterprise settingComfortable collaborating with technical and non technical stakeholders and translating business problems into engineered solutionsStrong problem solving mindset with a focus on reducing noise, friction, and manual effort
