Contracts Engineer – Key Responsibilities
1. Contract Administration
Administer contracts throughout the full project lifecycle, ensuring all parties comply with contractual terms and conditions.
Manage formal correspondence with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders, and maintain accurate contract records.
Monitor contractor performance to ensure timely issuance of instructions, approvals, and payment certificates.
2. Variations & Change Management
Implement the change control process, review variation requests, and prepare variation orders.
Assess cost and schedule impacts and support negotiations accordingly.
Evaluate the contractual implications of variations and provide recommendations to the project management team.
3. Claims Management
Identify, prepare, and manage extension of time (EOT) and cost claims in line with contract conditions.
Maintain a claims register and ensure proper documentation and supporting evidence are collected and preserved.
4. Risk Management & Compliance
Identify contractual and commercial risks proactively and recommend mitigation measures.
Ensure timely issuance of contractual notices, including delay notifications, in compliance with contract requirements.
5. Reporting & Coordination
Prepare contract management reports, including monthly commercial reports, claim status updates, and variation logs.
Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure smooth contract execution.
Requirements
* Minimum 10+ years of experience as a Contracts Engineer or Quantity Surveyor, preferably in the UAE.
* Strong knowledge of FIDIC 1999 forms of contract.
* Experience in handling at least two full project lifecycles.
* Proven ability to independently manage variations and claims.
* Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
