Job description

HIRING PAN INDIA


Main Purpose:

Manage wellsite geological operations for moderate to complex wells by providing formation evaluation, guiding logging and coring programmes assuring data quality and delivering robust technical inputs to drilling and subsurface decision-makers.


Job Accountabilities:

  • Lead real-time geological surveillance for wells of moderate complexity and identify formation tops, geological marker correlation, hydrocarbon shows and drilling hazards, and provide clear, timely recommendations to drilling and operations teams.
  • Design and optimise wellsite data acquisition plans (sampling, coring, wireline/MWD/LWD) in coordination with operations and service providers; provide senior on-site oversight during execution.
  • Perform higher-level log interpretation, correlation and integration with available geological, petrophysical and reservoir inputs; prepare comprehensive well evaluation reports.
  • Ensure technical QA/QC of field data and vendor deliverables. Escalate and resolve data quality issues and validate final datasets for handover to subsurface teams.
  • Advise on drilling adjustments, coring strategy and sample programme based on evolving downhole conditions and project objectives.
  • Coordinate with geology, geophysics, petrophysics, reservoir and drilling teams for integrated well delivery.
  • Correlation of geological markers based on oddest well data
  • Compilation of data for Well Completion Report


Skills

  • Proven capability in real-time formation evaluation, sample supervision, log QC and basic interpretation; familiarity with wellsite reporting standards.
  • Good report writing skills and familiarity with MS Office; basic knowledge of industry software (e.g., Minex/Petrel/Techlog/IP) is desirable.
  • Strong technical judgement, problem solving and concise report writing. Proficiency in MS Office and exposure to interpretation package


Qualification:

  • M.Sc. / M.Sc. Tech/ M.Tech in Geology, Petroleum Geology, Applied Geology or Earth Sciences.


Experience:

  • 5-8 years’ field experience as a wellsite geologist, mud logger or equivalent in oil & gas drilling operations.
