At Teradata, we believe that people thrive when empowered with better information. That's why we built the most complete cloud analytics and data platform for AI. By delivering harmonized data, trusted AI, and faster innovation, we uplift and empower our customers-and our customers' customers-to make better, more confident decisions. The world's top companies across every major industry trust Teradata to improve business performance, enrich customer experiences, and fully integrate data across the enterprise.

What You'll Do

What the role is about
As Director of Cloud Platform Engineering, you will lead the evolution of Teradata's cloud deployment and platform technologies, shaping the next generation of on-demand compute, serverless execution, automated provisioning, and scalable SaaS delivery across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.

What impact this role has
You will define and execute the long-term technical strategy for cloud architecture, including multi-tenant and single-tenant models, event-driven and serverless execution frameworks, regional deployment patterns, and platform standardization. Your leadership will directly impact Teradata's ability to scale globally, onboard customers rapidly, operate reliably at enterprise scale, and optimize cloud costs while maintaining performance and resilience.

What success might look like
Success means delivering a highly automated, secure, and resilient cloud platform that supports rapid growth and enterprise-grade customers. Key outcomes include reduced provisioning times, improved deployment frequency, strong SLA adherence, high platform availability, optimized cloud spend, and measurable improvements in operational efficiency, reliability, and performance.

Who You'll Work With
  • Lead and mentor teams across Platform Engineering, DevOps, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
  • Partner closely with Product, Security, Finance, and Engineering leaders to align platform capabilities with business priorities
  • Collaborate with cloud provider partners and internal architecture teams to drive consistency, innovation, and operational excellence
  • Report into senior engineering leadership and play a critical role in shaping Teradata's cloud and SaaS strategy

What Makes You a Qualified Candidate
  • Proven experience leading cloud platform, infrastructure, or SaaS engineering teams at scale
  • Deep expertise in cloud-native architectures, including serverless and event-driven execution models
  • Strong track record designing and operating highly available, resilient, and secure distributed systems
  • Experience owning end-to-end SaaS provisioning and automation pipelines using infrastructure-as-code
  • Demonstrated ability to balance reliability, performance, security, and cost in complex cloud environments
What You'll Bring
  • Hands-on leadership experience with AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform
  • Expertise in infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and platform automation (e.g., Terraform, Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
  • Strong understanding of observability, incident management, disaster recovery, and SLA-driven operations
  • Financial acumen with accountability for cloud cost optimization, usage transparency, and value alignment
  • A security-first mindset, embedding IAM, compliance, and governance into platform design
  • A collaborative leadership style that fosters automation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
  • Ability to define KPIs and use metrics such as deployment frequency, provisioning time, latency, error rates, and infrastructure efficiency to drive outcomes
