Main Purpose:
To provide HSE guidance and governance at site and regional level by establishing robust safety and environmental controls, managing high-risk operations and ensuring strong regulatory compliance, with particular focus on groundwater protection, emissions control and subsurface/site integrity.
Job Accountabilities:
• Provide leadership and governance for the HSE management system across sites ensuring alignment with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, statutory requirements and corporate standards.
• Define expectations and oversee implementation of critical safety routines including PTW, LOTO, SOP adherence, contractor HSE governance, inspections and audits.
• Lead HSE risk management frameworks including review of JSAs/TRAs, oversight of HAZID/HAZOP action closure and enforcement of safe operating envelopes.
• Govern environmental management and monitoring programmes, with strong emphasis on groundwater protection, wastewater management, emissions control and environmental compliance.
• Provide senior oversight on integrity-related HSE controls linked to subsurface operations, operating discipline and site closure / post-operation readiness.
• Lead response to serious incidents, near misses, and environmental events including investigation oversight, root-cause validation and effectiveness of corrective actions.
• Act as the primary HSE interface with regulators, auditors and statutory authorities at site and regional level.
• Drive HSE performance management, including KPIs, trend analysis, management reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure consistent documentation, reporting and audit readiness across locations.
• Coach and guide site HSE teams and contractors, strengthening capability, ownership and safety culture.
• Strong expertise in environmental risk management, particularly groundwater, wastewater and emissions control.
• Proven capability in process safety governance, contractor HSE management and regulatory engagement.
• Solid working knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, statutory compliance and audit processes.
• Strong leadership presence, sound judgement and ability to operate under complex, high-risk conditions.
• Willingness to travel across project and operational locations.
Qualification:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences or Safety; Master’s in HSE / Environmental / Process Safety preferred.
Experience:
• 12-18 years of progressive HSE experience in oil & gas, mining, chemicals, energy or other high-hazard industrial projects with significant site exposure.
