JOB PURPOSE 



As a SHE Officer at Unilever, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety, health, and environmental compliance of our operations. Reporting to the SHE Lead or SHE Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of SHE programs across our organization. Your expertise in SHE practices, and knowledge of relevant regulations and standards will be vital in driving a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.​

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 



​​​Safety and Environmental Compliance 



  • ​Support the implementation of safety and environmental management programs, policies, and procedures. 



  • ​Ensure compliance with safety and environmental laws, permits, and licenses, and maintain accurate reporting of Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental performance indicators. 



  • ​Conduct routine safety and environmental inspections and audits, identify non‑conformities, and implement corrective and preventive actions. 



  • ​Promote resource efficiency, waste reduction, recycling practices, and pollution‑prevention initiatives. 



​Incident Reporting and Investigation: 



  • ​support an effective incident reporting system to capture and analyze safety, health, and environmental incidents, near misses, and hazards. 



  • ​support incident investigations to determine root causes and develop recommendations for preventing recurrence. 



  • ​Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions resulting from incident investigations. 



  • ​Provide guidance and support to site teams in implementing proactive measures to mitigate risks and prevent incidents. 



​Training and Awareness: 



  • ​Deliver training programs to raise awareness and promote a culture of safety, health, and environmental responsibility. 



  • ​Conduct regular safety and environmental toolbox talks and awareness campaigns to engage employees and contractors in SHE initiatives. 



  • ​Provide guidance and support to employees on SHE-related matters, addressing their concerns and promoting a proactive safety culture. 



​Permit to Work: 



  • ​Support the permit-to-work system to control hazardous activities and ensure compliance with safety and environmental requirements. 



  • ​Review and approve permit requests, ensuring adequate risk assessments and necessary control measures are in place. 



  • ​Conduct periodic audits of the permit-to-work system to verify compliance and identify areas for improvement. 



  • ​Provide training to employees and contractors on the permit-to-work process and associated procedures.​​ 
     



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 



  • ​​Technical industrial diploma or a related field. 



  • ​Professional certifications in SHE management or equivalent are highly desirable. 



  • ​Proven experience in SHE management, including environmental compliance, incident reporting and investigation, and permit-to-work systems. 



  • ​Strong knowledge of SHE regulations, codes of practice, and industry standards. 



  • ​Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct risk assessments and develop practical solutions. 



  • ​Strong data analysis skills using excel, power BI and other analytical tools 



  • ​Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels. 



  • ​Experience in conducting SHE audits and inspections, including familiarity with auditing standards and methodologies. 



  • ​Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. 



  • ​Proficiency in using relevant software applications and tools for data analysis, reporting, and presentations.  



  • ​Good in English Written, Spoken and conversational skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 



  • 3-5 years of experience in a related field or possession of an industrial diploma or equivalent qualification. 



  • Professional certifications such as OSHA General and or NEBOSH IGC. 



  • Strong knowledge of SHE regulations, codes of practice, and industry standards. 



  • Proven experience in SHE management, including environmental compliance, incident reporting and investigation, and permit-to-work systems. 



  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct risk assessments and develop practical solutions. 



  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels. 



  • Experience in conducting SHE audits and inspections, including familiarity with auditing standards and methodologies. 



  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. 



  • Proficiency in using relevant software applications and tools for data analysis, reporting, and presentations.
