About the job Hotel General Manager General Manager – Premium Serviced Apartments

Reporting to International Head Office (UK)


Our client, an internationally recognised provider of premium serviced apartments, is seeking a commercially astute and experienced General Manager to lead a 41-key serviced apartment property with dedicated Food & Beverage outlets, including an on-site Restaurant, located in Cape Towns city centre.


This is a senior leadership opportunity for a results-driven hospitality executive who understands boutique asset performance, international reporting structures, and full commercial accountability.


The Opportunity


As General Manager, you will assume full P&L responsibility for the 41-key property and its Food & Beverage outlets, including the Restaurant. Reporting directly to the London-based Head Office, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy while ensuring strategic alignment, financial performance, and operational excellence.


Key focus areas include:


  • Driving revenue growth across accommodation and Food & Beverage
  • Developing and executing a structured sales and marketing strategy (corporate, long-stay, OTA and direct channels)
  • Leading budgeting, forecasting, and financial control processes
  • Maximising GOP through disciplined cost management
  • Overseeing operational excellence across all departments
  • Ensuring compliance with South African labour legislation and statutory regulations
  • Leading and developing a high-performance management team
  • Delivering accurate and structured reporting to international stakeholders

Food & Beverage & Systems Oversight


The successful candidate must demonstrate strong operational and systems expertise within a restaurant environment, specifically:


  • Significant POS system experience within a restaurant environment, ensuring accurate reporting, stock control, and financial oversight
  • Proven experience using booking platforms, specifically Dineplan
  • Strong understanding of restaurant cost controls, supplier management, stock management, and margin optimisation
  • Oversight of guest experience standards within the F&B outlets

People & Workforce Leadership


  • Strong relationship-building ability across all levels of staff
  • Excellent soft skills with a visible and approachable leadership style
  • Proactive workforce planning capability, identifying potential staffing gaps or operational risks before they impact service delivery
  • Experience managing performance, disciplinary, and grievance processes in line with South African labour legislation
  • Ability to build a stable, accountable, and performance-driven culture

The Ideal Candidate


  • 8+ years senior hospitality leadership experience
  • Proven full P&L accountability within a hotel or serviced apartment environment
  • Strong oversight of Food & Beverage outlets, including cost control and profitability
  • Demonstrated success in driving ADR, occupancy, and overall revenue performance
  • Significant POS system experience and familiarity with Dineplan
  • Solid understanding of South African labour law (BCEA, LRA, EEA, OHS Act)
  • Experience reporting to international or remote ownership structures
  • Financially astute with strong budgeting and forecasting expertise
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with an asset-owner approach
