Mechanical Engineer – Rotating Equipment (Shutdowns & Turnarounds)

SMH is seeking a skilled and results-driven Mechanical Engineer with hands-on experience in rotating equipment maintenance and repair, specifically during shutdowns and turnaround activities. This is a site-based role, requiring strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and quality execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee shutdown and turnaround activities for rotating equipment at site.
  • Ensure all maintenance and repair work is executed in line with quality standards, safety requirements, and project specifications.
  • Supervise and guide site teams, including supervisors and technicians, ensuring efficient task execution.
  • Monitor project schedules and progress, ensuring milestones are achieved within defined timelines.
  • Take full ownership of site execution, maintaining discipline, coordination, and operational control.
  • Conduct inspections and ensure adherence to best engineering practices and procedures.
  • Report on all site activities, progress updates, and issues to the Technical Manager.
  • Identify risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies to avoid delays or quality issues.
  • Ensure strict compliance with HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards during all phases of execution.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in rotating equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Experience in shutdowns and turnaround projects.
  • Strong knowledge of pumps, compressors, turbines, and other rotating equipment.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to take authoritative command on site.
  • Proficient in computer applications (MS Office, reporting tools and systems).
  • Strong communication and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced site environments.
