JOB SCOPE


Initiate quick action to contain emergency response. Assess fires and situations and report conditions to superiors to receive instructions, using two-way radios and effort to contain fire. Follow fire prevention, protection and detection program and update the knowledge through trainings to handle emergency response. Participate in fire drills and demonstrations firefighting techniques.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


1. Assess fires and situations and report conditions to superiors to receive instructions, using two-way radios. Implement fire prevention, protection and detection program and be update with all the trainings of emergency response.


2. Respond to fire alarms and other calls for assistance, such as accidents and incidents. Oversee, watch and alert colleague fire men in firefighting situations. Participate in emergency response readiness drill/ exercise during respective shift inside YASREF.


3. Participate in fire drills and demonstrations of firefighting techniques. Provide/ receive up to date firefighting emergency response training, techniques. Ensure to apply and implement immediate safety measures to protect YASREF employees and property. Participate in physical training activities to maintain a high level of physical fitness.


4. Maintain drawings of plant area layouts for new developments, fire prevention/protection issues including recommending best methods on fire protection systems. Respond to all kinds of emergencies such as fire, toxic, gas leaks, rescue of people and attend incidents as soon as notified.


5. Drive and operate fire fighting vehicles and equipment. Maintain technical specifications for firefighting equipment (fire trucks, foam/water carriers, emergency vehicles, rescue equipment, advance control vehicles, and portable equipment) are in place and up-to-date.


6. Provide support to initiate testing of fire and rescue equipment installed at YASREF premises to ensure they are in good working condition at all times, and properly maintained. Regularly check vehicles, equipment and extinguisher for its function ability.


7. Ensure adequate communication is established and medical care is available when needed.


8. Conduct periodical technical / professional training for fire staff, such as breathing apparatus training, fire leadership and prevention, method of instruction and investigation of fires, responding to emergencies.


9. Provide assistance in theoretical and practical fire extinguisher training for YASREF employees on a need-basis.


10. Establish “Incident Command System/ Centre” during emergency situation and immediately acts as incident commander until relieved by senior officer and team.


11. Keep emergency vehicle in ready position to respond emergency situation. Maintains emergency response readiness (team, vehicle, equipment, extinguisher, resources, communication etc..) at all times.


12. Select and attach hose nozzles, depending on fire type, and direct streams of water or chemicals onto fires. Operate pumps connected to high-pressure hoses/ extinguisher. Patrol burned areas after fires to locate and eliminate hot spots that may restart fires.

13. Take action to contain any hazardous chemicals that could catch fire, leak, or spill. Extinguish flames and embers to suppress fires, using shovels or engine- or hand-driven water or chemical pumps.


14. Inform and educate the employees/ public on fire prevention.


15. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the direct Supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 Education Requirements: Two (2) years Diploma in Engineering, Fire Protection or Equivalent.

Years of relevant work experience: No previous work experience is required.
