Job description

The Head of Contracting entails overseeing all contracting activities, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently, within budget, and in compliance with legal and regulatory standards. The Head of Contracting will lead a team of professionals, manage relationships with subcontractors and suppliers, and play a crucial role in strategic planning and decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of contracting principles and a proven track record in managing large-scale construction projects.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and manage the contracting department, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  2. Develop and implement contracting strategies that maximize project efficiency and profitability.
  3. Negotiate contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to secure favorable terms.
  4. Monitor project progress and compliance with contractual obligations.
  5. Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address potential issues.
  6. Collaborate with project managers to ensure seamless project execution.
  7. Review and approve contract modifications and change orders.
  8. Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards throughout the contracting process.
  9. Provide training and mentorship to junior contracting staff.
  10. Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes affecting contracting practices.

Preferred Candidate:

  1. Proven experience in a senior contracting role within the construction industry.
  2. Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  3. Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.
  4. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  5. In-depth knowledge of construction law and contract management.
  6. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  7. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  8. Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  9. Fluent in English; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
  10. Strong networking skills within the construction sector.
