Primary Purpose of the JobEstablish and lead the enterprise data management function in collaboration with business and digital teams to maximize the value of data as a strategic asset. The role is accountable for enabling trusted, secure, and well-governed data across the organization by driving modern data platform capabilities that support digital transformation, analytics, and AI-enabled use cases.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing data management team and operating model to deliver robust, scalable, and business-aligned data services.
- Define and execute the enterprise data management strategy, architecture direction, and service roadmap aligned to business and digital priorities.
- Lead the design and operation of enterprise-scale shared corporate and industrial data platforms
- Oversees the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise data platforms, ingestion, transformation, modelling, cataloguing, monitoring, and reusable data products.
- Ensure availability, reliability, scalability, performance, and secure access to enterprise data platforms in line with business needs
- Oversee budgets, vendor partnerships, service performance, and value realization reporting for the Data Management function
- Partner with business and AI teams to deliver data driven use cases with measurable value
- Establish and mature the enterprise data governance framework, including ownership, stewardship, policies, standards, and governance forums
- Champion data literacy, trusted data usage, and adoption of standards and self-service capabilities across QatarEnergy
Required Experience and Skills- 15+ years’ experience in the Oil & Gas industry, including 8+ years in senior enterprise data management roles covering data architecture, strategy, and multi‑year roadmap definition
- Build and lead a high-performing data management team and operating model with clear accountability and business-aligned service delivery
- Experience in developing strategic partnership with top data service providers.
- Proven leadership experience of managing and governing corporate and industrial data platforms.
- Demonstrated leadership in building high-performing teams, influencing senior stakeholders, managing vendors and budgets, and driving cross-functional change
- Familiarity with DAMA, TOGAF, or similar frameworks, and strong understanding of oil and gas data domain
- Strong communication skills, with proven experience operating in multinational and multicultural environments at enterprise and executive levels
Educational Qualifications- A degree in Statistics, Engineering, or a technology related field, demonstrating strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Advanced degrees (Master's or PhD) Computer Science, oil and gas is highly desirable
