Job Title: SCADA Technician – Oil & Gas (Well Site)

Job Summary:
The SCADA Technician is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting SCADA systems and field instrumentation at remote oil well sites. The role ensures reliable monitoring and control of wellhead equipment, and flowlines, through accurate signal transmission to the control room.
Key Responsibilities:
SCADA & Control Systems:
- Install, commission, and maintain SCADA RTUs, and telemetry devices.
- Configure field data communication (Modbus/DNP3) with SCADA HMI systems.
- Perform SCADA I/O testing, signal simulation, and logic verification.
Field Instrumentation:
- Install, calibrate, and maintain a variety of field instruments, including:
- Pressure Sensors
- Differential Pressure Sensors
- Level Transmitters
- Temperature Sensors (RTD/thermocouples)
- H₂S Gas Detectors
- Combustible Gas Detectors (LEL)
- leak detection sensors
- Ensure proper grounding, shielding, and wiring of instrumentation in hazardous zones.
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance:
- Conduct regular instrument calibration using field calibrators.
- Troubleshoot signal losses, noisy readings, or device failures.
- Replace or reconfigure field devices in response to alarms or performance issues.
Data Integrity & Communication:
- Verify SCADA signal integrity from sensor to control room interface.
- Maintain real-time data availability for operations, safety, and reporting systems.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Update wiring diagrams, I/O maps, and tag lists as needed.
- Document calibration certificates and maintenance records.
- Provide detailed field reports for any faults, repairs, or configuration changes.
Coordination & Safety:
- Coordinate with control room, electrical, and instrumentation teams during commissioning or shutdowns.
- Follow site HSE procedures and perform work in compliance with ATEX/IECEx and hazardous area classification standards.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Automation Engineering.
- 2–5 years’ experience in SCADA or Instrumentation roles within oil & gas or petrochemical sectors.
- Familiar with SCADA platforms
- Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, HART, DNP3, OPC).
- Hands-on experience with RTUs/PLCs (e.g., Honeywell, Schneider, Emerson ROC, Siemens, ABB).
