Role Overview


The Lead Ecologist will play a critical role in the delivery of a large‑scale environmental remediation and revegetation programme in Kuwait. The position requires a senior‑level ecologist with strong field experience, technical expertise, and the ability to manage both site‑based and office‑based activities. The successful candidate will oversee ecological investigations, revegetation works, and environmental compliance throughout the project lifecycle.


Key Roles & Responsibilities


Technical & Field Responsibilities


  • Lead, manage, and execute revegetation and ecological restoration projects across the site


  • Plan, implement, and supervise ecological investigations, including species monitoring programmes


  • Conduct and oversee site monitoring, sample collection, and interpretation of ecological data


  • Apply appropriate sampling strategies and habitat survey techniques


  • Undertake vegetation data analysis, impact assessments, and ecological risk evaluations


  • Ensure integration of desert ecology, plant–soil relationships, irrigation systems, and planting methods


  • Oversee lower and higher flora and fauna classification and assessment


Reporting & Data Management


  • Prepare, review, and approve technical reports, including:


  • Site investigation reports


  • Species management plans


  • Monitoring and compliance reports


  • Perform data analysis and ensure accurate documentation and record keeping


Project & Site Management


  • Supervise site operations and manage ecological field teams


  • Manage and oversee on‑site equipment related to ecological and revegetation works


  • Ensure compliance with environmental standards, organisational controls, and project requirements


  • Support coordination between site teams, contractors, and project stakeholders


Stakeholder & Communication


  • Engage with stakeholders and communities on matters relating to plant communities, revegetation, and ecology


  • Demonstrate strong communication skills in coordinating across multidisciplinary teams


  • Provide expert ecological input to project management and technical leadership


Qualifications


  • B.Sc. or Postgraduate Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or equivalent


Industry Experience Requirements


  • Total minimum professional experience: 12 years


  • Minimum experience in a related ecological leadership/specialist role: 5 years


Technical & Field Experience


  • Proven experience in revegetation development and management


  • Strong field experience in:


    • Community relationships with plants


    • Desert ecology and arid‑zone revegetation


    • Planting methods, irrigation systems, and plant–soil relationships


    • Experience in lower and higher flora and fauna classification and ecological assessment


    • Experience in planning and implementing species monitoring programmes


    • Hands‑on experience in vegetation data analysis, ecological impact assessment, and mitigation


  • Working knowledge and practical application of:


    • Geographic Information Systems (GIS)


    • Global Positioning Systems (GPS)


    • Aerial photography, maps, and ecological records
