Qualification


  • B.E. / B. tech / Degree in Electronics or Electronics and telecommunication.
  • 4 – 6 years hands on experience in working with VMware ESXi based servers, Solaris/Unix & Linux servers.
  • CCNA certification is an advantage.
  • Strong communication verbal, written and collaborative skills are a must.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented with a strong desire to learn
  • The candidate must be, multitasking, proactive, ready to work in flexible timings according to customers’ requirements, and away from home (business overseas trips)
  • Upgrade Firmware/Embeded and Network Management software in accordance with official procedures.
  • Visit customer premises and meet the customers for kick-off meetings, Network software upgrades, commissioning, and acceptance.

Domain Knowledge


  • Hands on knowledge in OS installation and Upgrade and Maintenance activities.
  • Operating System practical knowledge i.e. Red Hat Linux, Solaris, Windows and EMS/NMS Industry training or relevant industry certification (eg. CCNA, )
  • Install, set up, and commission *NIX-based OS and Network/Element Management systems (NMS/EMS)
  • Hands on experience in recovery of OS from boot/hardware failures.
  • Experience in Networks, Windows, Linux/VMWare virtualization
  • Experience on Linux/Solaris patch management, Timely patching as per patching schedules
  • Knowledge in Backup & restoration technology on Linux and VMWare.
  • Basic knowledge on Linux services like SFTP, rsync, NTP and IP-configuration.
  • Basic knowledge on Shell scripting, SNMP, YANG/NETCONF Open APIs. and Python.
  • Performing network/management system upgrades and service restoration.
  • Knowledge of Element Management Systems, application & database servers, geo-redundant clusters, Storage Area Networks.
  • Experience in Optical Networks (DWDM, SDH) , Tools: OTDR, Ethernet Traffic Generator, Wireshark, iperf
  • Good understanding on SDH,EoSDH,L2 and MPLS TP alarm troubleshooting Techniques and problem 
  • SDN and NFV knowledge going forwards.
  • Knowledge on Monitoring, operations, and Maintenance of Optical Transmission Network. solving skills.

Roles and Responsibility


This role is a largely customer-facing Upgrade Engineer role for Network Management (OS/NMS/EMS/OSS and NE-Embedded) software/firmware upgrade (Onsite / Remote) working towards deadlines and with fast turn-around-times.


This role demands you to work on major Software/Firmware Upgrade related to OS/NMS/EMS/OSS and NE-Embedded with DWDM, OTN & Basic IP MPLS technologies.


Main Interfaces in/outside ECI:
  • ECI Customers across globe.
  • Internal ECI organizations: T3, R&D, Engineering, Sales, Project Management and more.
