Introduction to team

The Air Shopping Experience team builds the end‑to‑end air shopping journey, across native and web, that powers flight search, discovery, and booking across Expedia Group brands. We focus on fast, reliable, and intuitive mobile experiences that help travelers find the right flights with confidence, while enabling experimentation and innovation at scale across our apps.
This role sits within the Expedia Product & Technology division as part of the Technology organization, partnering closely with platform, search, recommendations, checkout, identity, and experimentation teams to deliver connected, high‑quality experiences across brands and platforms. You will be based in Gurgaon, collaborating with distributed teams across Expedia Group.

In this role, you will:
  • Design, build, and maintain high‑quality iOS applications, focusing on robust system design (including low‑level design), API integration, and data modeling that support resilient, scalable mobile experiences.
  • Implement and review complex Swift code, applying strong engineering fundamentals, testing practices, and performance optimization to deliver reliable, user‑centric features on iOS devices.
  • Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development within the team.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define mobile architecture, integrate backend services and third‑party SDKs, and ensure secure, performant, and maintainable end‑to‑end solutions.
  • Safely integrate and operate AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes, including personalization, recommendations, or automation features within the iOS application experience.
  • Apply familiarity with AI‑driven systems, tools, or workflows and AI/ML concepts to enhance mobile product capabilities, developer productivity, and experimentation on iOS.
  • Contribute to technical design reviews, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring engineering best practices and fungibility of solutions across multiple domains and services.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience in professional software development.
  • 8+ years of hands‑on experience developing and shipping production‑grade iOS applications using Swift and Swift UI, including end‑to‑end feature ownership from design through release and support.
  • Proven experience owning components or services within a mobile application ecosystem, including integrating RESTful APIs, managing data models, and contributing to system and API design.
  • Strong proficiency in core software engineering fundamentals, including object‑oriented design, low‑level design, data structures, algorithms, unit/integration testing, and debugging on iOS.
  • Experience working within collaborative engineering teams, using modern tooling (such as version control, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring) to deliver maintainable, scalable mobile solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience architecting and evolving complex iOS applications at scale, including modularization, API design for mobile‑backend interactions, and performance and reliability optimization.
  • Experience leading or significantly contributing to the technical design of new iOS features or subsystems, including data modeling and integration patterns that can be reused across multiple domains or products.
  • Strong track record of operational excellence for mobile applications, such as setting up observability, diagnostics, and automated testing strategies to ensure high availability and quality in production.
  • Familiarity with AI‑driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products, including safely integrating and operating AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve user experience or business outcomes on iOS.
  • Hands‑on experience leveraging on‑device or service‑based ML/AI capabilities (for example, personalization, ranking, or intelligent automation) in mobile applications, including collaborating with data/ML teams to design, integrate, and iterate on these features.
