The D&T Delivery Excellence Lead is a senior leadership role within Haleon’s Digital & Technology organisation, sitting in the Performance, Transformation and Delivery function. The role has enterprise‑wide accountability for D&T delivery excellence, ensuring that strategic change is governed effectively, delivered predictably, and achieves its intended business outcomes.




The role is accountable for:




·Setting and maintaining standard D&T programme and project delivery frameworks (Waterfall, Agile and hybrid)



·Leading and developing a team of D&T delivery experts



·Managing the successful delivery of a c.£300m per year D&T change portfolio



·Governing and assuring Haleon’s most critical strategic D&T programmes



·Managing delivery partners and third‑party resources



·Providing delivery assurance, health checks and recovery support to programmes at risk




The role reports to the Head of Delivery & Performance and works closely with D&T Leadership, the Digital Strategy PMO, Finance, and senior business stakeholders.




Key Responsibilities




1. Enterprise D&T Delivery Excellence & Standards



  • Accountable for defining, owning and maintaining Haleon’s standard D&T delivery and governance frameworks, encompassing Waterfall, Agile and hybrid models.
  • Ensure consistent application of delivery standards, controls, artefacts and ways of working across all D&T programmes and portfolios.
  • Continuously evolve delivery frameworks, tooling, assurance and quality standards in line with business strategy and delivery maturity.

2. Portfolio Delivery (£300m+ per annum)



  • Work closely with the D&T Portfolio and Planning Lead and oversee the successful delivery of a £300m+ annual D&T change portfolio, spanning multiple D&T functions, platforms and business domains.
  • Ensure portfolio prioritisation, sequencing, dependency management and capacity planning are effective and transparent.
  • Provide clear, outcome‑focused portfolio reporting to senior D&T and business leadership.

3. Strategic Programme Governance & Assurance



  • Design, implement and assure effective governance models for Haleon’s most complex and high‑value strategic D&T programmes.
  • Ensure clear decision rights, escalation paths, and accountability structures are in place.
  • Provide leadership with robust insight on delivery performance, risks, trade‑offs, and value realisation.

4. Delivery Health Checks, Assurance & Course Correction



  • Conduct delivery health checks and diagnostics for key strategic programmes and portfolios.
  • Identify early indicators of delivery risk, capability gaps, or governance failure.
  • Work directly with programme teams and senior stakeholders to define and execute recovery and course‑correction plans where required.

5. Leadership of D&T Delivery Capability



  • Lead, manage and develop a team of D&T delivery experts, including programme and project managers.
  • Build enterprise delivery capability through coaching, mentoring, performance management and succession planning.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, delivery excellence, continuous improvement and outcomes ownership.

6. Third‑Party & Partner Management



  • Own the selection, onboarding, governance and performance management of delivery‑related third‑party partners, including system integrators and delivery vendors.
  • Ensure partners operate in line with Haleon delivery standards, governance expectations and commercial agreements.
  • Drive delivery quality, cost control and value‑for‑money across internal and external resources.

7. Financial, Risk & Performance Management



  • Ensure robust risk and issue management across portfolios and programmes, with clear mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Oversee programme and portfolio financial management, benefits tracking, forecasting and investment governance.
  • Ensure delivery data, metrics and insights actively inform leadership decisions.

Qualifications & Skills




Essential



  • Extensive experience leading enterprise‑scale D&T delivery portfolios in complex, global organisations.
  • Proven accountability for delivery frameworks, governance and assurance across Waterfall and Agile environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership of multi‑disciplinary delivery teams and senior delivery professionals.
  • Experience governing and assuring large‑scale strategic programmes, including turnaround and recovery scenarios.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills at Executive / ExCo level.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, SAFe or equivalent).

Preferred



  • Experience managing £100m+ multi‑year technology or transformation portfolios.
  • Strong commercial and vendor management capability.
  • Experience building and scaling enterprise delivery excellence functions.
