To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

At Barclays, we don’t just adapt to the future – we create it. The Engineering Practices DevOps Lead (EP) team builds and maintains the core CI/CD framework, shared libraries, and documentation platform used across the organisation. As an EP DevOps / Software Engineer, you will serve as a frontline support engineer and contributor — helping teams adopt EP to oling, resolving issues, and feeding real-world requirements back into the platform.
To be successful in this role you should possess:
Graduate / Postgraduate Degree and hands on experience with software development and Devops with experience with Maven / Nexus artifact management.
Familiarity with .NET or Java / Spring Boot build and deployment pipelines.
Experience with ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) for logging and observability with knowledge of JIRA workflows and integration with CI/CD processes.
Exposure to monorepo tooling (Turborepo, pnpm workspaces, Cargo workspaces).
Prior experience in a platform engineering, developer experience (DevEx), or internal tooling team.
Some other highly valued skills may include:
CI/CD pipelines — Hands-on experience with GitLab CI or similar pipeline orchestration tools; understanding of multi-stage pipelines (build, test, deploy, promote, release).
Containerisation & orchestration — Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes (deployments, Helm charts, environment-based routing).
At least one of the following languages at a working level: Rust — the EP CLI and core libraries are written in Rust, TypeScript / JavaScript — the documentation platform and frontend tooling use React, Vite, pnpm, and Turborepo,Kotlin / Gradle — shared Gradle plugins and build logic.
Infrastructure as Code — Familiarity with Ansible or similar configuration management tools, Version control — Proficiency with Git, including branching strategies, merge workflows, and monorepo conventions with Linux fundamentals — Comfortable working in terminal environments, shell scripting, and debugging build/deploy issues.
