Job description

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has established a Net-Zero, Environment and Climate Resilience Cell to implement the Ahmedabad Climate Resilient City Action Plan – Towards a Net-Zero Future 2070. As part of this initiative, a dedicated Project Management Unit (PMU) is being deployed to support planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of city-wide climate and sustainability actions.
The Energy Expert will be a core full-time PMU resource, supporting AMC departments in planning and implementing energy efficiency, renewable energy, and low-carbon energy infrastructure interventions, and in monitoring city-wide energy performance aligned with net-zero goals.


Key Responsibilities:



The Energy Expert will work closely with the Net-Zero Cell and relevant AMC departments to:
Support planning, implementation, and monitoring of energy-related climate actions under the Ahmedabad Climate Resilient City Action Plan
Provide technical inputs on energy infrastructure, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and demand-side management initiatives across municipal operations and city projects
Support planning, development, and monitoring of the Energy Management Portal for Ahmedabad, including analysis of energy consumption data and identification of improvement opportunities
Assist in integrating energy efficiency and renewable energy measures into municipal buildings, public infrastructure, and urban projects
Support preparation of Five-Year Action Plans and Annual Action Plans related to energy transition and net-zero objectives
Coordinate with AMC departments, utilities, and external stakeholders on energy audits, retrofits, and clean energy projects
Contribute to GHG inventory updates, energy-related emissions analysis, and tracking of mitigation impacts
Support feasibility analysis and concept development for energy-focused projects to access state, national, and international funding
Assist AMC in aligning energy initiatives with national and state programmes (e.g., renewable energy targets, energy efficiency schemes, net-zero and climate missions)
Contribute to monitoring frameworks, KPIs, technical notes, and monthly progress reports related to energy actions
Participate in inter-departmental meetings, technical reviews, and site visits as required.


Educational Qualifications


Postgraduate degree in:
Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering


Experience Requirements


Minimum 10 years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
Energy infrastructure planning or implementation
Renewable energy systems
Energy efficiency and energy management
HVAC systems and energy optimization
Energy auditing and performance monitoring


Experience working with urban local bodies, government agencies, utilities, or large infrastructure programmes will be an advantage.


Skills and Competencies


Strong technical understanding of energy systems, renewable technologies, and energy efficiency measures
Ability to analyze and interpret energy consumption data and performance indicators
Experience in supporting energy audits, retrofit planning, and implementation oversight
Familiarity with government energy programmes, standards, and policy frameworks
Ability to work in multi-departmental and multi-stakeholder environments
Strong documentation, reporting, and coordination skills


Language Requirements
Proficiency in English, Hindi, and Gujarati (read, write, and speak) is required for coordination with AMC departments and local stakeholders.


Employment Terms
Full-time, on-site position at Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation
Long-term engagement aligned with the PMU contract duration
