Job Purpose


Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for managing, maintaining, securing, and optimizing enterprise database environments across cloud, on-premises and hybrid infrastructures. The role ensures high availability, performance tuning, backup and recovery, database security, patch management, capacity planning, and operational excellence for mission-critical business applications. The DBA will work closely with application, infrastructure, cloud, and security teams to deliver resilient and scalable database services.


Roles & Responsibilities


  • Cloud Database Management

Manage cloud-native databases on L & T Vyoma environments.


Support migration of on-premises databases to cloud platforms.


Implement automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices for database deployments.


Optimize cloud database costs and performance.


  • Database Administration & Operations

Administer, maintain, and support enterprise databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and cloud database platforms.


Install, configure, upgrade, and patch database servers as per organizational standards.


Monitor database health, availability, storage utilization, and performance metrics.


Perform database provisioning, cloning, migration, and decommissioning activities.


  • Performance Tuning & Optimization

Analyze SQL queries and execution plans to optimize database performance.


Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and implement tuning recommendations.


Optimize indexing strategies, database structures, and resource utilization.


Conduct proactive performance assessments and capacity planning.


  • High Availability & Disaster Recovery

Implement and manage database replication, clustering, Always-On, RAC, Data Guard, and similar HA technologies.


Design and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.


Conduct periodic recovery drills and validate business continuity readiness.


Ensure compliance with RPO and RTO requirements.


  • Security & Compliance

Implement database security controls, user access management, encryption, and auditing.


Ensure database environments comply with organizational security policies and regulatory requirements.


Perform vulnerability remediation and security patch management.


Support internal and external compliance audits.


  • Incident & Problem Management

Resolve complex database incidents within SLA timelines.


Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for critical database outages.


Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to resolve issues.


Maintain operational runbooks and standard operating procedures.
