Job Objective

We are seeking a data-driven and analytically minded professional to join the Data Science and AI Engineering team within International Health, Cigna Healthcare. Our team designs and delivers high-impact descriptive, predictive, and emerging AI-enabled analytics to address complex challenges across global and local healthcare markets.

This role is primarily aligned to the Provider domain, supporting insights related to healthcare providers such as hospitals, physician groups, and ancillary care organizations, and their interaction with health insurance operations. The position will also collaborate closely with adjacent domains, like Clinical and Payment Integrity, to ensure analytics are grounded in clinical relevance, operational efficiency, and value-based care outcomes.

This is an opportunity for a data analyst to demonstrate strong technical capability and business acumen by translating data into actionable insights and scalable data products that drive measurable value for healthcare and health insurance stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with Product Owners and domain stakeholders to understand business and provider-related challenges, and recommend appropriate analytical approaches
  • Support the design and implementation of predictive and prescriptive analytics, including models that inform provider engagement strategies, network optimization, and care delivery outcomes
  • Operate effectively within an agile operating model, collaborating in cross-functional squads, contributing to sprint planning, backlog refinement, and iterative delivery of analytics and data products
  • Contribute to the responsible application of generative AI-enabled analytics, including building and maintaining domain-aligned knowledge bases to support Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), agent-assisted analytics, and insight generation use cases
  • Design, curate, and maintain high-quality provider datasets by identifying and managing critical data elements (CDEs), ensuring data completeness, accuracy, consistency, and fitness for advanced analytics and AI-driven use cases
  • Track, quantify, and communicate the business value and impact generated by deployed analytics and AI-enabled data products
  • Work with Data Engineering and Cloud Engineering teams to stay aligned on data ingestion, enrichment, and availability, leveraging both first- and third-party healthcare and provider data
  • Collaborate with Data Governance and AI Governance teams to ensure compliance with data protection requirements, the EU AI Act, and responsible AI principles, preferably drawing on prior hands-on experience in regulated environments

Requirements

  • Tertiary education in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Knowledge of International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and its application within healthcare and health insurance analytics
  • Hands-on experience with Python for data analysis and modeling
  • Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Experience in cloud-based data and analytics platforms, preferably Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Databricks, including services such as SageMaker, Athena, or equivalent
  • Good understanding of Foundation Models, including their capabilities, limitations, risk considerations, and appropriate enterprise usage patterns
  • Hands-on experience with prompt engineering and agent engineering, supporting analytics workflows, RAG-based solutions, insight generation, or decision-support use cases
  • Solid knowledge of the EU AI Act, with practical experience applying its requirements (e.g., data governance, transparency, risk management, and human oversight) in analytics or AI-related initiatives
  • Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to translate analytical and AI-driven insights into clear, business-relevant narratives; additional languages are an advantage
