1. Position Objective
Responsible for the development, optimization, and continuous improvement of water-based and solvent-based paint formulations, ensuring high technical performance, cost competitiveness, and compliance with international quality standards.
2. Key Responsibilities
· Develop new decorative paint formulations (interior and exterior), including enamels, putties, textures, primers
· Optimize existing formulations aiming at cost reduction and performance improvement
· Evaluate and approve alternative raw materials
· Conduct laboratory and industrial trials
· Assess technical performance (viscosity, hiding power, drying time, gloss, adhesion, etc.)
· Investigate non-conformities and market complaints
· Support production in troubleshooting
· Implement ISO 9000 procedures
· Collaborate with suppliers
· Prepare technical reports and data sheets
· Train teams
3. Technical Requirements
· Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
· 8–10 years of experience in paint development
· Knowledge of water-based and solvent-based systems
· Experience with rheology and additives
· Industrial experience
· Fluent English
Understanding of film defects (cratering, sagging, flocculation, syneresis) and how to correct them
Knowledge of surfactant chemistry and its effect on paint stability
Pigment dispersion techniques and grind optimization
Understanding of polymer chemistry (acrylics, alkyds, epoxies, polyurethanes)
Formulating for specific substrates (concrete, wood, metal, drywall)
Understanding of open time, pot life, and recoat windows
Color science and tinting system compatibility
Thermal and freeze-thaw stability testing
Benchmarking competitor products
Cost-per-litre formulation modeling
Understanding of packaging compatibility with formulations
Reading and interpreting supplier technical datasheets critically
