1. Start broad, then refine

Begin with general job titles or keywords related to the role you’re hiring for. This allows you to explore a wider range of relevant candidates — even those who might use slightly different terminology.

Tip: Keep it simple at first. You can always narrow down once you see what’s available.

Example: Instead of starting with a highly specific title like "Senior Backend Python Developer", try broader terms like "Backend Developer", “Python Developer” or "Software Engineer". You’ll uncover candidates who have strong Python experience but may not have listed it in their headline or title.

2. Use clusters to explore and filter

After your initial search, use the clusters and filters in the left-hand column to narrow results based on key attributes such as:

  • Nationality
  • Country of residence
  • Last active date
  • Industry
  • Career level
  • Education level
  • CV activity

Tip: Start by exploring clusters to understand talent availability, then apply filters to zero in.

3. Choose the right search mode

Bayt.com’s search supports three modes to help you control result precision:

  • Any keywords CV must contain at least one keyword
  • All keywords CV must contain all keywords, in any order
  • Exact match CV must contain the exact phrase typed

Example: Searching for Product Analyst
  • Any: Matches “Product” or “Analyst”
  • All: Matches both “Product” and “Analyst” (anywhere in the CV)
  • Exact: Matches only the phrase “Product Analyst”

4. Use boolean logic for smart precision

Take control of your results with Boolean operators:

  • AND Includes both terms Project Manager AND PMP
  • OR Includes either term Recruiter OR "Talent Specialist"
  • NOT Excludes terms Engineer NOT Civil

Tip: Combine Boolean with exact match or filters to fine-tune high-priority searches.

5. Apply advanced filters thoughtfully

Filters like years of experience, salary range, or education level are powerful — but best used when you have clearly defined criteria.

Tip: Avoid over-filtering. Many candidates may leave optional fields blank. Too many filters may exclude qualified profiles.

Example: Searching for Marketing Manager roles in the UAE within the Advertising industry, with 5+ years of experience — but skipping salary to keep the pool broad.

Search tips

Keep in mind that there are multiple ways to do a search. Should you need more CV options, you can use multiple job titles in the keywords field, use certifications or skills etc.

Example: You might be looking for an HR personnel who’s called a “Recruiter” in Company A, but a “Talent Acquisition Specialist” in Company B.

Tip: Job titles may differ from organization to organization but come with the same responsibilities or tasks. Do not only focus on the job title itself but instead take into consideration the duties being performed.

8. How to do a specific search using Boolean?

If you are searching for a specific role or title that comes with strict specifications or requirements, you can utilize Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT, quotation marks, parenthesis) to create a boolean search string.

Example: You may want to search for CVs that contain the keyword "project manager" or "program manager" as long as the CV does not contain the word "construction", and in all cases the CV must contain the word "PMP". This search can be entered as:

form cvSearchTxt43 form cvSearchTxt44

5. Start with a general search then narrow down your choices

When you start with a general search, you will get an idea on the strength of CVs in the database. This is a good way to start your search and identify how you can perform your next searches better. You can narrow down the results by adding more keywords to your search string.

If you’re looking for an “HSE Qatari national with Nebosh certification in Qatar”, you can try the following search order:

First Search String Keyword: HSE
Second Search String Keyword: HSE Nebosh
Third Search String Keyword: HSE Nebosh
Residence location: Qatar
Fourth Search String Keyword: HSE Nebosh
Residence location: Qatar
Nationality: Qatar
6. Narrow down your search results

If the number of CVs from the search is a lot, you can narrow down your search results by adding more filters. Use the main filters or use the shortlist options that are present on the left side of your screen.

Note: The main filters will scan the whole database of Bayt.com. On the other hand, the shortlisting cluster will only narrow your current search results; not the whole database.

3. Select the appropriate search option
  • Any: The search will return CVs that contain any (or all) of the keywords you entered. For example, if you enter “oracle java” in the keywords text box and choose "Any", the system will return CVs that contain the word "oracle", CVs that contain the word "java", and CVs that contain both of them.
  • All: The search will return only CVs that contain all of the keywords you entered. For example, if you enter “oracle java” in the keywords text box, and choose "All", the system will return only CVs that contain both words "oracle" and "java". However, note that the words may appear in the CV in any order. For example, if a CV contains the word "java" in the job title and the word "oracle" in the training section, this CV will be returned.
  • Exact Order: The search will return only CVs that contain the entered words in that exact order. For example, if you enter “project manager” in the keywords text box and choose "Exact", the system will return only CVs that contain the words "project manager" in this order.
  • Boolean: The search will return CVs that contain any (or all) of the keywords you entered. For example, if you enter “oracle java” in the keywords text box and choose "Any", the system will return CVs that contain the word "oracle", CVs that contain the word "java", and CVs that contain both of them.
