Solution Architect – Cryptocurrency & Digital Assets (m/f/d)

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Solution Architect to lead the design, implementation, and production support of Digital Asset and Cryptocurrency trading and custody platforms. The ideal candidate will bring deep techno-functional expertise in blockchain-based financial systems, digital asset custody, and crypto trading infrastructure, combined with a strong understanding of wealth management and regulated banking environments. This is a strategic, hands-on role operating within a forward-thinking financial institution in the UAE.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design, implementation, and integration of Digital Asset (cryptocurrency) trading and custody platforms.
• Define architecture for crypto asset management including wallet infrastructure, key management, custody workflows, and on-chain/off-chain settlement.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership across digital asset platforms, supporting asset classes such as cryptocurrencies, tokenised assets, and virtual asset products.
• Integrate digital asset platforms with existing wealth management, brokerage, and consumer banking systems.
• Support end-to-end digital asset trade lifecycle including order capture, execution, custody, settlement, and reporting.
• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation to support mission-critical digital asset and wealth platforms.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues across applications, integrations, databases, and infrastructure.
• Ensure all solutions comply with UAE Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority (VARA) frameworks, Central Bank guidelines, and international digital asset standards.
• Design and maintain system health dashboards and architecture blueprints using Visio, Draw.io, or equivalent tools.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Compliance, Risk, and Operations teams to drive platform resilience and scalability.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 7–10 years of experience in financial services technology with a strong focus on digital assets, cryptocurrency platforms, or virtual asset custody solutions.
• Proven hands-on experience implementing Digital Asset trading platforms and/or Crypto Custody platforms — this is a mandatory requirement.
• Strong knowledge of blockchain architecture, wallet infrastructure, and crypto key management (HSM, MPC).
• Proficiency in Java and/or .NET Core with experience in microservices and API-driven architectures.
• Cloud platform experience on AWS and/or Azure, including secure deployment practices.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity, data privacy, and regulatory compliance in virtual asset environments.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Attributes

• Experience working within UAE or GCC regulated environments, particularly with VARA or ADGM frameworks.
• Exposure to broader wealth management and brokerage platforms alongside digital assets.
• Cloud certifications (AWS/Azure) are advantageous.
• Familiarity with DeFi protocols, tokenisation, or digital securities platforms.
• Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and Agile delivery practices.
