Job Description: Project Manager – Power Electronics Converter Development (3–5 Years Experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Manager with 3–5 years of experience in power electronics product development to lead end-to-end execution of converter-based projects (DC-DC / AC-DC). The role involves cross-functional coordination, technical understanding, supplier engagement, and ensuring timely delivery aligned with cost, quality, and performance targets.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
- Lead end-to-end project management for power converter development (concept to production)
- Define project scope, timelines, deliverables, and milestones
- Develop and maintain project schedules (Gantt charts, trackers)
- Monitor progress against design gates (e.g., concept, design, validation, industrialization)
Technical Coordination
- Work closely with hardware, firmware, mechanical, thermal, and PCB layout teams
- Ensure alignment with design requirements, specifications, and standards
- Support technical decision-making through basic understanding of:
- Power converter topologies (Buck, Boost, Flyback, LLC, etc.)
- Thermal management (heat sinks, cooling strategies)
- EMI/EMC compliance
- PCB design constraints for power electronics
Supplier & Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with vendors, design partners (e.g., PCB, CFD, magnetics, fabrication)
- Support RFQ, vendor selection, and onboarding processes
- Track supplier deliverables, lead times, and risks
- Manage communication with internal stakeholders (Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Management)
Risk Management & Issue Resolution
- Identify project risks proactively (technical, supply chain, resource-related)
- Develop and track mitigation plans
- Handle change management and deviations effectively
- Escalate critical issues in a structured and timely manner
Cost & Resource Management
- Track engineering hours, development cost, and BOM targets
- Support cost optimization through:
- Design reviews (DFM, DFA)
- Supplier alternatives
- Value engineering initiatives
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to quality processes (APQP, ISO standards, internal guidelines)
- Support design reviews, validation plans, and testing milestones
- Ensure proper documentation and traceability
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain:
- Project plans
- Risk registers
- Meeting minutes
- Status reports
- Prepare and present periodic project updatesincluding:
- Milestones
- Risks & mitigation
- Cost & resource status
- Support required
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electronics / Power Electronics Engineering
- PMP /Scrum master certification is a plus
- 3–5 years of experiencein:
- Power electronics product development OR
- Engineering project management in electronics domain
