Job title: Construction Manager
The principle role is to provide construction management support to development & maintenance projects and well hook-up. Provide expertise to the construction teams and construction contractors consisting of multi discipline engineers, inspectors and support team. Management of the contractors to ensure safe completion of all construction related activities.
Job responsibilities - As a primary Client representative in the field provide leadership , manage, co-ordinate and direct construction activities of all field construction supervision personnel, contractors and sub-contractors and associated construction personnel engaged in the various field development and maintenance projects
- Accountable for ensuring MEI completion of the projects
- Accountable for preparation of progress reports regarding the project Construction activities
- Accountable for maintaining the highest possible productivity, by forward planning and thinking.
- Responsible for co-ordination with the operations field management and construction contractor management teams to identify all interfaces and develop solutions to interface problems to ensure the safe and timely implementation of all work with the minimum of disruptions to schedule and or production activities .
- Responsible for ensuring that all construction work is carried out in accordance with approved project Contracts, associated drawings and documentation.
- Responsible for the promotion of awareness of the Company Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality policies to all contractors and associated project personnel
- Responsible for advising any safety concerns and generally be vigilant on all matters of safety, reinforcing safety policies and commitment to safety to the various Contractors at all times.
- Be prepared and capable of assisting the contractor(s) produce manpower and equipment forecasts for all work activities in order to assist in resource mobilizations and demobilizations accordingly
- Accountable for monthly Value of Work Done (VOWD), Forecast and yearly budget preparation
Requirements (Education required, background, experience, skills)
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree (or NVQ Level 6 qualification or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a very closely related discipline.
- A minimum of 20 years Oil & Gas industry experience within a multi-discipline facilities engineering and construction environment with proven management experience in a similar capacity of which 5 years minimum is required to have been spent in the Middle East or North Africa.
- Must have proven previous experience in the execution of Brown field construction either within the client or contractor organization.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) are essential. Frequent interchange and completion of job tasks depend to a large part upon effective interaction with others.
- Must be a strong team player with good interpersonal and management skills
- Must be possess the ability to effectively interact with management, construction and engineering contractors, vendors and any other departments to facilitate flow of information.
- Must be PC literate skilled in the use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint as minimum. Previous exposure to the use of Primavera as a project planning tool is considered to be advantageous.
Fluent English language skills essential – French and/or Arabic in addition are advantageous
