Job description

Delivering the best Spotify experience possible. To as many people as possible. In as many moments as possible. That’s what the Experience Mission is all about. We use our deep understanding of consumer expectations to enrich the lives of millions of users around the world, bringing the music, audio, and video they love to the devices, apps, and platforms they use every day.

The Content Platform team powers the full lifecycle of content across music, podcasts, audiobooks, and emerging formats. We make sure that everything—from licensed tracks to creator submissions and user-generated content—is delivered in a way that’s trusted, safe, and high quality at global scale. Our work sits at the heart of Spotify’s ecosystem, shaping how content is ingested, understood, governed, and distributed.

We’re seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team focused on delivering content across Spotify’s ecosystem—ensuring that metadata and media flow efficiently and reliably from a wide range of internal systems to our apps and partner platforms. This work underpins every play, recommendation, and interaction, requiring systems that are scalable, observable, and resilient.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and grow a team of engineers building large-scale systems that power how content is delivered across Spotify

  • Set technical direction and guide the evolution of backend systems responsible for content distribution

  • Partner closely with product, design, and platform teams to deliver reliable, high-impact solutions

  • Ensure highly available, scalable, and performant infrastructure supporting millions of content interactions

  • Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement within your team

  • Support engineers through coaching, feedback, and career development

  • Drive execution across complex, cross-functional initiatives involving multiple systems and stakeholders

  • Champion best practices in reliability, observability, and system design

Who You Are

  • You have experience leading and developing engineering teams in a fast-paced, product-driven environment

  • You bring strong technical experience in distributed systems, backend platforms, or infrastructure at scale

  • You know how to balance technical direction with people leadership, creating clarity and focus for your team

  • You are comfortable working across teams and aligning stakeholders toward shared goals

  • You care deeply about building reliable systems that impact millions of users

  • You have experience with high-throughput, low-latency systems or data/content delivery pipelines

  • You communicate clearly and foster an environment where ideas are shared openly

  • You are motivated by developing others and building inclusive, high-performing teams

Where You'll Be

  • This role is based in Stockholm or London

  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in-person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home
