INTECH Process Automation is seeking a seasoned Telecom Engineer to join our dynamic Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team.
Technical Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive telecom technical support for all systems, including but not limited to radio systems (VHF/UHF/HF), satellite communications, PABX, IP telephony, fiber optics, structured cabling, CCTV, access control, and network infrastructure.
- Demonstrate robust technical understanding and hands-on skills with various telecom components such as cables, antennas, connectors, adapters, switches, routers, and multiplexers.
- Perform system diagnostics, fault isolation, and root cause analysis using appropriate test equipment (e.g., OTDR, spectrum analyzers, cable testers).
- Perform proper configuration, integration, and optimization of telecom systems to ensure quality assurance of assets and meet operational requirements and performance standards.
- Initiate and participate in investigations related to radio frequency interference and propose technical solutions to such problems for review and discussion with complainant.
- Provide technical support education and transfer experience to new technical staff.
Installation, Commissioning & Modifications
- Participate in all activities related to new telecom system installations, upgrades, and modifications of existing facilities/systems.
- Review technical documents, drawings, and specifications; provide input during design and implementation phases.
- Conduct commissioning, testing, and acceptance of telecom systems in coordination with the stakeholders.
- Prepare and submit detailed as-built documentation, red-line drawings, and configuration records.
Maintenance & Operations
- Develop and execute preventive maintenance (PM) schedules for all telecom systems and infrastructure.
- Perform corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs in accordance with OEM specifications and standards.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, fault reports, spare parts usage, and system performance metrics.
- Monitor system health and proactively identify operational gaps or degradation; recommend and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure availability and reliability of telecom systems to support critical operations and emergency communications.
Software & Configuration Support
- Provide software support including installation, configuration, patching, and compatibility checks for telecom related applications and firmware.
- Assist in diagnosing software related issues and liaise with vendors for resolution and updates.
- Maintain version control and documentation of software configurations and licenses.
Project Support
- Support telecom-related projects by coordinating with the departments, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Assist in planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation for telecom works.
- Attend project meetings, provide technical input, and ensure timely delivery of telecom milestones.
- Track progress, manage risks, and report status updates to the supervisors.
Compliance, Safety & Permits
- Adhere to safety, HSE, and operational procedures, especially related to Offshore sites.
- Initiate and manage all types of Permits to Work (PTW), including Hot Work, Cold Work, Working at Heights, etc.
- Act as Performer, Performing Authority, or Area Authority as required, and maintain valid safety certifications.
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with the local standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Emergency Response & Support
- Respond promptly to emergency calls or requests initiated by site personnel, providing technical support and resolution.
- Be available for critical interventions outside normal working hours as required.
