Job description

The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all aspects of cost estimation, contract administration, and financial control for civil construction projects. The role includes preparing cost estimates, tracking project expenditures, handling variations and claims, and ensuring that projects are completed within budget while maintaining contractual compliance.


Key Responsibilities:1. Cost Estimation & Budgeting:
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and BOQs based on project drawings and specifications.
  • Analyze material, labor, and equipment costs for project feasibility.
  • Assist in preparing project budgets and cash flow forecasts.
2. Contract Administration:
  • Review contracts, subcontracts, and tender documents for risks and compliance.
  • Ensure all contract conditions and obligations are met.
  • Maintain proper documentation for contractual correspondences.
3. Valuation & Payments:
  • Prepare and submit monthly interim payment applications to clients.
  • Evaluate subcontractor/supplier invoices and certify payments.
  • Monitor cost variations and recommend corrective actions.
4. Variation & Claims Management:
  • Identify, evaluate, and prepare claims for variations, delays, and additional works.
  • Conduct forensic quantity assessments for dispute resolution.
  • Support in preparing Extension of Time (EOT) claims with necessary documentation.
5. Cost Control & Reporting:
  • Monitor project costs against the budget and provide periodic reports.
  • Identify cost overruns and suggest cost-saving measures.
  • Prepare project cost reports, forecasts, and financial analysis.
6. Coordination & Stakeholder Management:
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and subcontractors for commercial matters.
  • Participate in project progress and commercial meetings.
  • Collaborate with planning, procurement, and site teams for project efficiency.
Qualifications & Skills:Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • 8-12 years of experience as a QS in a civil contracting company.
  • Strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts, cost control, and claims management.
  • Experience in high-rise buildings is preferred.
Technical & Soft Skills:
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, CostX, and Primavera P6.
  • Excellent analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Strong communication and report-writing abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
