 Job Title: Specialist Electrical Engineer – Offshore FEED Project



KBR is growing its Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team for an exciting, high‑profile offshore development in Abu Dhabi. The ADNOC PMC project role would be based initially in Contractors Office in Abu Dhabi for some time till administrative process is completed and the candidate will be then moving outside UAE ( to an Asian Country FEED location ) for 6 – 8 months and then returning to UAE.



The project duration is until 2028 with possible extension.



Job Purpose



The Specialist Electrical Engineer will provide technical leadership and oversight for electrical engineering deliverables during the FEED phase of offshore oil & gas projects under Client PMC. The role ensures electrical system design integrity, compliance with ADNOC standards, and seamless integration with offshore facilities while maintaining safety, reliability, and operability.



Key Responsibilities



FEED Engineering & Design



  • Review and oversee FEED design for electrical systems including:
    • Power generation (gas turbines, generators)
    • Power distribution (HV/MV/LV systems)
    • Substations, switchgear, transformers
    • UPS, battery systems, and emergency power systems
  • Ensure design complies with Client standards, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Validate electrical load lists, single line diagrams (SLDs), and system studies.

PMC Oversight & Contractor Management



  • Review and approve EPC contractor FEED deliverables, calculations, and specifications.
  • Monitor contractor performance to ensure adherence to Client procedures and quality standards.
  • Participate in technical bid evaluations and vendor reviews (FAT/SAT where applicable).
  • Provide guidance and resolve technical issues during FEED execution.

Power System Studies & Analysis



  • Review and validate:
    • Load flow analysis
    • Short circuit and fault level analysis
    • Motor starting studies
    • Harmonic analysis and transient studies
  • Ensure system reliability, redundancy, and fault tolerance in line with project requirements.

Electrical Equipment & Systems



  • Review specifications and selection of:
    • HV/MV/LV switchgear and transformers
    • Cables and cable routing systems
    • Lighting systems (including hazardous area lighting)
    • Earthing and lightning protection systems
  • Ensure compliance with Hazardous Area Classification (Zone 0, 1, 2) and Ex requirements.

Interface & Multidisciplinary Coordination



  • Coordinate with process, instrumentation, telecom, mechanical, and structural teams.
  • Ensure proper integration of electrical systems with offshore platforms, wellheads, and subsea interfaces.
  • Support interface management between offshore facilities and onshore power systems where required.

HSE & Risk Management



  • Ensure electrical designs comply with HSE, fire & gas, and emergency shutdown (ESD) requirements.
  • Support HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, and electrical safety reviews.
  • Promote inherently safe and reliable electrical system design (ALARP principles).

Installation & Constructability



  • Review constructability aspects related to installation, cable routing, and equipment layout.
  • Assess offshore installation challenges and ensure practical design solutions.
  • Support pre-commissioning and commissioning philosophies for electrical systems.

Documentation & Reporting



  • Review and approve key FEED deliverables, including:
    • Electrical design basis and philosophies
    • Equipment datasheets and specifications
    • Cable schedules and routing drawings
  • Maintain technical documentation, action tracking, and compliance registers.
  • Provide regular updates to Client PMC management.

Qualifications & Experience



Education



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Master’s degree is an advantage

Technical Expertise



  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Offshore power systems and electrical infrastructure
    • ADNOC standards and international codes (IEC, IEEE, NFPA, API)
    • Hazardous area classification and explosion-proof systems
  • Experience with electrical system simulation tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM, DIgSILENT)

Key Skills & Competencies



  • Strong technical leadership and decision-making skills
  • Excellent design review and analytical capabilities
  • Effective contractor and stakeholder management
  • Strong understanding of offshore FEED and PMC processes
  • High attention to detail and risk mitigation mindset


Experience



  • Minimum Overall 15+ years of experience in the oil and gas sector.
  • Minimum 5–7 years in offshore FEED / detailed engineering projects.
  • Experience in WHT, subsea pipeline installation, and marine operations.
  • 12–15+ years of experience in electrical engineering within oil & gas
  • Prior experience working in PMC roles and ADNOC Offshore projects is highly preferred.
