General Summary


Planning, organizing and coordinating amongst the team to carry out the lining of ladle, EAF and tundish effectively.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Key Accountabilities)


  • Carries out duties assigned by the Supervisor, according to production requirements.
  • Ensures sufficient availability of machinery, consumables and tools required for Refractory work.
  • Ensures the lining of vessels meant for hot applications are done with utmost care and as per the work instructions and guidance given by the Supervisor.
  • In case of any abnormalities observed during execution of work, inform the Supervisor, and seek guidance.
  • Ensures that all safety precautions in the machine being used for refractory applications are in place, abiding by the Company safety policy and regulations.
  • Ensures that work area is maintained clean and free of any obstacles or encumbrances.
  • Ensures the effective implementation of operational policies covering all areas of the refractory work so that all relevant procedural / legislative requirements are fulfilled, while delivering a cost–effective quality product to SMP1 Operation.

In case of an emergency, cooperates with the Supervisor and acts in accordance with the operational procedures/work instructions.


Additional Duties and Responsibilities


  • To impart training for new employees.
  • To coordinate with Crane Operators and the EAF and CC sections, to ensure that the intended service is being provided.
  • To coordinate with EAF/LRF and CC on a regular basis, to optimise the productivity of the Plant.

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities (attributes) required


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.


  • Sufficient technical knowledge of refractory applications
  • Good planning skills
  • Time management
  • Communication skills

Minimum Education Qualifications (Must Haves)


Preferred professional training (Nice to have)


  • Diploma/ ITI
  • In-depth technical knowledge of refractory applications and problem solving

Professional Experience (Must Haves)


Experience Recommended (Nice to have)


  • Around 3-5 Years in a Steel Plant as a Brick Layer/Mason
  • Around 5-8 Years with a mini steel plant having a EAF/LF/CCM production route
