Why This Role Matters


The Senior Mechanical Engineer will support BESIX Environment’s projects focused on sewage treatment plants and water infrastructure. The role is responsible for ensuring that mechanical systems and process equipment are technically compliant, operationally reliable, and cost-efficient throughout tendering and project development phases.


What You’ll Drive


  • Review and validate mechanical designs and specifications prepared by consultants, licensors, and EPC partners.
  • Coordinate major wastewater treatment equipment including pumps, blowers, aeration systems, sludge handling systems, piping networks, and auxiliaries.
  • Support preparation of technical specifications, datasheets, equipment sizing, and layouts.
  • Prepare and review BOQs, CAPEX estimates, and pricing strategies during tendering stages.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities to optimize project costs without compromising reliability or performance.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors regarding technical and commercial evaluations.
  • Work closely with civil, process, and construction teams to ensure proper integration of mechanical systems.
  • Provide technical support during execution including shop drawing reviews and coordination with site teams.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in wastewater treatment process equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Experience in tendering, supplier engagement, BOQ preparation, and cost optimization.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and bridge engineering design with construction and operational requirements.
  • Strong analytical and coordination skills.
  • Practical and delivery-focused engineering mindset.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Qualification


  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering with focus on process equipment.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in environmental infrastructure projects, preferably water or wastewater treatment.
  • Middle East experience is mandatory.
  • European supplier or project exposure is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of wastewater treatment equipment and plant operations.
  • Proven experience in tendering, BOQ preparation, cost estimation, and supplier coordination.
  • Fluent English is required. Hindi or Arabic is a plus.
