Senior Civil / Structural Engineer – Water Infrastructure

Why This Role Matters

As part of BESIX Environment, this role supports the development of sewage treatment plants and related water infrastructure projects across the region. The Senior Civil / Structural Engineer will play a key role during tendering and early design stages, ensuring that civil and structural solutions are technically sound, cost-efficient, constructible, and aligned with project delivery requirements.

What You’ll Drive

• Lead the review and validation of civil and structural designs prepared by consultants, licensors, and EPC partners.
• Review structural calculations, challenge design assumptions, and guide engineering development from concept through detailed design.
• Coordinate closely with process, mechanical, and construction teams to ensure integration of civil and structural works.
• Support tendering activities including BOQ preparation, cost estimation, value engineering, and pricing strategies.
• Propose optimized structural solutions for water and wastewater treatment facilities with a focus on constructability, durability, and CAPEX optimization.
• Ensure compliance with international codes and standards including Eurocodes, ACI, and BS standards.
• Liaise with consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and high-quality engineering deliverables.
• Provide technical support during execution phases including design review follow-up and interface with site teams.

You’re a Great Fit If You Have

• Strong background in civil and structural engineering related to environmental and water infrastructure projects.
• Experience in sewage treatment plants, pumping stations, clarifiers, tanks, and hydraulic structures.
• Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and bridge engineering design with construction realities.
• Strong analytical skills with a practical and delivery-focused engineering approach.
• Experience in tendering, BOQ preparation, cost estimation, and value engineering.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Qualification

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• Minimum 8–10 years of experience in environmental infrastructure projects, preferably water or wastewater treatment.
• Middle East experience is mandatory.
• European project or supplier exposure is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete design for hydraulic structures.
• Familiarity with international design standards such as Eurocodes, ACI, and BS standards.
• Fluent English is required. Hindi or Arabic is a plus.
