Job Description
Stantec is seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Resident Engineer / Design Manager to lead multidisciplinary design review and construction supervision activities on major building project.
The successful candidate will act as the Engineer’s Representative on site, responsible for ensuring that all EPC contractor design submissions and construction works comply with contractual requirements, applicable codes, project specifications, and international standards.
This role requires technical depth across disciplines and the ability to manage both design and site supervision teams in an EPC environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design Management & Review (EPC Contractor Oversight)
• Lead and manage a multidisciplinary design review team including Senior Electrical Engineer, Senior Mechanical Engineer, Senior Civil/Structural Engineer and Senior Architect.
• Oversee and coordinate the review of IFC drawings, Shop drawings, Technical submittals, Material submittals, Method statements and Calculations and design reports.
• Ensure EPC contractor designs:
o Comply with project specifications, employer’s requirements, and contract documents
o Meet local authority regulations and international codes
• Chair technical design coordination meetings with EPC contractor and stakeholders.
• Resolve technical conflicts between disciplines and ensure proper integration.
• Track and close design review comments and ensure proper documentation.
2. Site Supervision & Construction Management
• Lead the site supervision team and oversee day-to-day supervision activities.
• Ensure construction works comply with Approved drawings, Specifications, Method statements and Quality standards.
• Oversee Work inspections, Material inspections, Installation inspections and Testing & commissioning supervision.
• Review and approve Material submittals, Shop drawings, Method statements and ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans).
• Ensure proper QA/QC implementation on site.
• Maintain robust documentation control for design reviews and supervision activities.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineering and supervision teams.
• Ensure adherence to HSE standards and promote a strong safety culture on site.
• Manage and oversee NCR (Non-Conformance Reports), RFI (Requests for Information), Site instructions and Technical queries.


Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline).
• Professional registration (PE, CEng, or equivalent) preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in engineering and construction.
• Proven experience on large-scale EPC projects (building projects).
