Job Description:
The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at the United Arab Emirates University is seeking a motivated Research Assistant for a rocket propulsion project. The research focuses on the establishment of rocket testing facilities, thruster design, experimental testing, and performance analysis. The Research Assistant will assist with the procurement and installation of equipment and experimental testing, and lead data analysis and documentation activities. Responsibilities also include conducting laboratory experiments, analysing data, preparing manuscripts, and supporting dissemination activities. The appointment will be made on a six-month contractual basis, with the possibility of renewal based on project requirements and satisfactory performance.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related engineering discipline
Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong interest in contributing to cutting-edge space propulsion technology • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively • Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written • Ability to write project reports, publish high-quality journal papers, and present research outcomes • Willingness to travel overseas when necessary • Knowledge and understanding of space propulsion systems and components • Hands on experience in one or more of the following areas: space chemical propulsion, experimental fluid dynamics, combustion and propulsion experiments, including high-pressure combustion testing, data acquisition systems and data analysis, 3D CAD modelling for manufacturing and simulation
