The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the United Arab Emirates University is seeking a motivated Research Assistant (RA) for a 2-year funded Startup Grant project. The research focuses on the preparation, characterization, and predictive modelling of fiber composites reinforcing bars used later for concrete structures. The RA will conduct experiments on physical, thermal, and mechanical -short and long-term- properties and contribute to the development of service life prediction models (Arrhenius Model). Responsibilities include laboratory experiments, data analysis, preparation of manuscripts, and support for dissemination activities.


Minimum Qualifications:


• Master’s degree in civil engineering, materials Engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field. • Experience in laboratory testing and equipment (material and structural based) such as universal testing machines. Experience in dealing with thermal and material composition equipment is preferred (like DSC, TGA, and FTIR) • Strong technical writing and communication skills. • Ability to work independently and in a team.


Preferred Qualifications:


• Prior experience in material modelling (Arrhenius Model) and conditioning testing • Be adaptable and flexible to the continuous changes associated with research demands • Publication record in the field of materials, structures, mechanical engineering. • Willingness to travel for international collaboration and conferences. • Commitment to providing a safe and healthy workplace
