Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced Principal I&C Engineer as part of our Engineering team within our Oil, Gas & New Energies business based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. 
Due to the nature of the projects and client expectation, the position will be based at our engineering center in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensures team members' adherence to generally accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Demonstrate a visible and active commitment to Technical Safety / HSE management and its associated requirements in a project environment.
  • Highly effective technical and practical engineering skills in the Instrumentation & Control discipline, and able to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to WOOD and its clients.
  • Gathers data from multiple sources and prepares engineering studies, analyses, and calculations.
  • Technical supervision of project-designated Instrumentation and control engineers, designers and draftsmen in the execution of their duties.
  • Supports checking, peer reviews, and incorporation of comments and findings.
  • Determines technical issues, defines alternate solutions, establishes pros/cons for multiple solutions, and makes recommendations through official project documents such as technical queries, technical deviations, etc.
  • Reviews documentation to assist others and reviews/authorizes work done by direct reports.
  • Identify and review new technology development that could be applicable in providing more cost-effective facilities.
  • Perform discipline-specific engineering services such as:
    • Identify and report changes to project scope;
    • Contribute to appropriate studies, analyses and recommend actions;
    • Assist with the preparation of designs and drawings, specifications, data, calculations, and reports.
    • Provide assistance during procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
    • Provide assistance in the preparation/review and approval of project documents of Instrumentation Discipline as follows:
      • Instrumentation Design Basis, philosophy documents
      • Instrumentation and Instrumented Control and Safety Systems (DCS/ESD/F&G) Specs,
      • Calculations for SIS loops, orifice sizing, control valve sizing, thermowell wake frequency, etc.
      • Design specifications/Datasheets of various field instruments, control & on-off valves, DCS/ESD systems, F&G systems, liquid & gas analyzers, Gas Chromatographs, condition monitoring systems, etc.,
      • Functional Design Specifications and
      • Instrumentation Drawings such as DCS functional logic, PLC logic, hook-up drawings, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, interface drawings, cable block diagrams, cable schedule, panel layout drawings, cable routing drawings, cable tray/duct layouts, instrument layouts, Instrument Installation details, Junction Box wiring, Instrument Interconnection drawings etc.
      • LLI items/MTOs/ Project cost estimates of Instrumentation LLI’s and Systems
      • Performance of bid evaluation and vendor document review and approval
      • FAT and SAT procedures and attend the Testing of the control systems during FAT and SAT test.

Expected:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrument & Control Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 14 years of Instrumentation & Control engineering experience in oil and gas for offshore and onshore projects
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Lead Role in Conceptual, FEED, Detailed Engineering and EPC Projects
  • Knowledge of the regulations, codes and standards (eg. API, ISA, ANSI, AGA, ISO and IEC codes etc.) and a good understanding of onshore and offshore engineering practices applicable to Instrumentation and control design for oil and gas facilities.
  • Strong technical background in Instrument Engineering (with knowledge of the other discipline).
  • Expertise in applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work with multi-cultural /multiethnic teams in important.
  • Good level of spoken and written English
  • Must be highly motivated, good team player, customer-oriented and have an eagerness to learn outside of own discipline.
