The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in the area of Sustainable Heterostructured Z-Scheme Photocatalysts for Green Energy Applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, synthesis, characterization, and performance optimization of advanced heterostructured photocatalysts for solar-driven hydrogen production, CO₂ reduction, and related green energy systems. The role includes experimental work, advanced materials characterization, electrochemical analysis, data interpretation, manuscript preparation, and collaboration within multidisciplinary research teams. The candidate is also expected to contribute to proposal writing and supervise graduate students when required.


Minimum Qualifications:


PhD degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nanotechnology, or closely related field, supplemented with documented evidence to support the following: •Experience in photocatalysis or advanced functional materials • Strong background in materials synthesis and nanomaterials fabrication • Experience in characterization techniques such as XRD, SEM/TEM, UV-Vis spectroscopy, electrochemical analysis, BET, etc. • Proven scientific writing and publication record • Ability to work independently and within research teams


Preferred Qualifications:


• Experience in solar fuel generation, hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), oxygen evolution reaction (OER), or CO₂ reduction • Experience in heterostructure engineering and Z-scheme systems • Demonstrated success in publishing in high-impact journals • Experience in supervising graduate students • Strong commitment to laboratory safety and research integrity
