The Department of Chemical Engineering at the United Arab Emirates University invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral research position. The successful candidate will lead research projects focused on amine based CO2 capture and the regeneration of amine solvents, through catalytically assisted approaches and using gas-liquid membrane contactor, aiming to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability in CO2 capture.


Minimum Qualifications:


A PhD degree in Chemical Engineering supplemented with documented evidence to support the following: • A PhD in a relevant field obtained within the last three years. • Strong technical writing abilities. • A flexible, proactive approach to responsibilities.


Preferred Qualifications:


• Catalyst synthesis and characterization for CO2 capture and desorption applications. • Experienced in Hollow fibers membranes fabrication and modification by phase inversion method and characterization. • Fabrication and modification of flat-sheet polymer membranes and characterization. • Construction of membrane modules for CO2 capture and regeneration. • Experimental investigation of CO2 removal at various operating conditions. • COMSOL modelling simulation of CO2 removal processes. • Measurement of membrane permeability, porosity, pore size and hydrophobicity. • Characterization analyses using techniques such as SEM, XRD, FTIR, TPD and BET. • Measurement of CO2 loading in liquid phase samples by the Chittick apparatus.
