Job description

Mace combines construction expertise with consultancy to unlock potential in every person or project and redefine the boundaries of ambition. Our values shape the way we consult and define the people we want to join us on our journey.

The project:

Mace is supporting the delivery of a large‑scale, next‑generation digital infrastructure programme in the region, working alongside a leading developer in the data centre sector. The project brings together complex design coordination, fast‑paced delivery and rigorous governance to meet the demands of a mission‑critical environment. Our team is applying global best practice in programme, project and commercial management to help shape resilient, future‑ready infrastructure at scale.

We are seeking an experienced MEP Manager (Commissioning) to join a major, technically complex development as it transitions into the delivery phase. Working as part of an integrated PMC team, this role will lead the commissioning, testing, and handover of all MEP systems, ensuring assets are delivered, validated, and performing in line with design and operational requirements.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Lead and manage all MEP commissioning activities from pre-commissioning through to integrated systems testing and handover.

  • Develop and implement commissioning strategies, plans, and procedures aligned with project requirements and programme milestones.

  • Act as the key interface between contractors, specialist vendors, consultants, and the PMC team on all commissioning-related matters.

  • Oversee the preparation and review of commissioning documentation, including method statements, checklists, and test scripts.

  • Ensure all systems are tested, validated, and perform in accordance with design intent, specifications, and operational criteria.

  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary commissioning activities across mechanical, electrical, ELV, and specialist systems.

  • Drive readiness for commissioning, ensuring installation completion, documentation, and quality benchmarks are achieved prior to testing.

  • Manage and witness testing and commissioning activities, including FAT, SAT, and integrated systems testing.

  • Identify and resolve technical issues during commissioning, implementing corrective actions to maintain programme and performance outcomes.

  • Champion health, safety, and environmental standards throughout all commissioning activities.

  • Support client handover processes, ensuring all documentation, training, and demonstrations are completed to the required standard.

  • Contribute to reporting on commissioning progress, risks, and key technical issues to senior stakeholders.

You’ll need to have:

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Extensive experience in MEP commissioning management on large-scale, technically complex projects.

  • Proven track record delivering commissioning on MEP-intensive or mission-critical developments.

  • Strong knowledge of commissioning processes, including pre-commissioning, start-up, integrated systems testing, and handover.

  • Experience coordinating multiple contractors and specialist vendors during complex commissioning phases.

  • Familiarity with international standards, commissioning best practices, and structured handover processes.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage technical challenges in high-pressure environments.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and quality standards.

  • Middle East project experience is highly desirable.
