Job Summary:
Our client, an international manufacturing company is looking for a Mechanical Process Technologist. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and assisting with maintaining mechanical and production equipment (extrusion lines, texturising machines, wrapping lines, and ancillary machinery) to ensure efficient operation, compliance with safety standards, and consistent product quality. Approximately 30-40% of the role will involve reviewing, updating, and creating technical drawings, layouts, and schematics using CAD/Solidworks or similar software. You will provide technical drawings and layouts for projects, factory improvements, maintenance planning, and all operational areas within the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse and monitor production and mechanical equipment to achieve production & waste targets.
- Identifying reasons and solutions for downtime & waste.
- Perform routine inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, and rapid troubleshooting of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using Root Cause Analysis techniques such as 4M.
- Review, update, and create technical drawings (mechanical layouts, P&IDs, assembly drawings) using AutoCAD or similar software (30-40% of time allocation).
- Form part of the process engineering team and provide technical layouts and drawings to support projects, factory expansions, and process improvements.
- Assist in project management activities, including planning, coordination with contractors, and documentation.
- Support the maintenance team in developing structured workflows, data tracking (e.g., MTBF, MTTR), spare parts management, and systematic preventive maintenance programmes.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, logbooks, and digital documentation.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to optimise processes and resolve technical issues.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental protocols.
- Participate and conduct continuous improvement initiatives and training.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related technical field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably in plastics, textiles, extrusion, or continuous production processes.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with proven ability to troubleshoot production machinery.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Proven experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent) for creating and modifying technical drawings.
- Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance best practices.
- Familiarity with project management basics (planning, scheduling, coordination) is an advantage.
- Experience implementing or using CMMS systems (e.g., Fiix, UpKeep, SAP PM, Business Central) is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Good computer literacy (MS Office, data analysis, MS Project (advantageous).
