The Lab Specialist will provide technical support for teaching and research laboratories within the Integrative Agriculture Department. The successful candidate will manage laboratory operations, ensure the availability of resources, maintain lab safety protocols, and provide hands-on assistance during practical sessions in animal science courses. Key Responsibilities: • Oversee the day-to-day operations of animal science laboratories. • Prepare laboratory materials, equipment, and specimens for teaching and research purposes. • Assist faculty members during lab sessions, ensuring students' safety and proper use of equipment. • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and ensure timely procurement. • Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures in the lab. • Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment. • Assist in the development of new practical lab sessions and protocols. • Support research activities by providing technical assistance to faculty and students. • Maintain records of lab activities and prepare reports as required.


Minimum Qualifications:


• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Science, or a related field. • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a laboratory environment, preferably in an academic setting. • Proficiency in handling livestock and lab animals. • Familiarity with lab safety protocols and equipment maintenance. • Strong organizational and communication skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Preferred Qualifications:


• Experience with precision livestock technologies (PLF). • Knowledge of molecular biology techniques. • Experience in research support and data collection.
