About the job INSTRUMENTATION ENGINEER
We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation Engineer to support the design, engineering, and execution of instrumentation and control systems for large-scale industrial and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing instrumentation engineering deliverables, coordinating multidisciplinary interfaces, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions throughout FEED and Detailed Design phases.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform instrumentation engineering and design activities for industrial and infrastructure projects.
- Prepare and review instrumentation design deliverables including Instrument Index and I/O Lists, Instrument Datasheets and Specifications, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) review and mark-ups, Control System Architecture Drawings, Instrument Hook-ups and Installation Details, Cable Schedules and Interconnection Diagrams
- Ensure instrumentation designs comply with project specifications, client requirements, and applicable international standards.
- Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural, Telecom, and HSE disciplines to support integrated project execution.
- Review vendor drawings, datasheets, technical documents, and provide technical comments.
- Support the development of control philosophies, functional design specifications, and operating narratives.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL assessments, and constructability reviews as required.
- Support procurement activities through technical bid evaluations and vendor clarification reviews.
- Provide engineering support during installation, testing, loop checking, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities.
- Assist in troubleshooting instrumentation and control system issues during project execution and commissioning phases.
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and documentation related to instrumentation systems.
- Ensure engineering deliverables are completed in accordance with project schedules, quality requirements, and budget constraints.
- Maintain effective communication with project stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams throughout project execution.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering, or equivalent engineering discipline.
- Master's Degree is an advantage.
- Minimum 5+ years of instrumentation engineering experience in industrial, infrastructure, energy, oil & gas, petrochemical, water, or power projects.
- Experience in FEED and Detailed Design (DD) project execution is preferred.
- Good knowledge of process instrumentation, industrial automation, and control systems.
- Familiarity with international standards such as IEC, ISA, ANSI, API, NFPA, and other relevant industry codes.
- Experience with instrumentation system design including DCS, PLC, SCADA, SIS/ESD, and Fire & Gas systems.
- Knowledge of instrument selection, specification, and process measurement technologies.
- Understanding of control valve sizing principles and instrumentation calculations.
- Familiarity with hazardous area classification requirements and intrinsically safe system design.
- Knowledge of SIL concepts and functional safety requirements is preferred.
- Familiarity with engineering software such as SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI/InTools), AVEVA Instrumentation, AutoCAD, and related engineering applications.
- Experience in brownfield and greenfield project environments (Preferred).
- Exposure to EPC contractor and PMC project execution environments (Preferred).
- Understanding of construction support, loop testing, commissioning, and site troubleshooting activities (Preferred).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills.
