Job Description

Graduates joining the business in a Graduate role and engaging in all elements of the ADVANCE program. The program is designed to introduce and build essential business and personal skills, helping to enhance the transition from student to professional.
Graduates are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within the field they are joining at Graduate entry level.
The ADVANCE program lasts approx. 24 months but the successful completion of the program is only to be used as an indicator for strong performance in line with other indicators (strong or above performance rating etc.)


Job Summary


A Graduate Highway Engineer supports the planning, design, and delivery of road and infrastructure projects. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, the role involves assisting in geometric design, technical analysis, and preparation of engineering drawings and reports in accordance with local and international standards.


Key Responsibilities


  • Assist in the design of highways, roads, and associated infrastructure (e.g., intersections, interchanges, and service roads).


  • Support geometric design tasks including horizontal and vertical alignment, cross-sections, and corridor modeling.


  • Prepare engineering drawings using software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D.


  • Contribute to design reports, calculations, and technical documentation.


  • Perform basic engineering analyses (e.g., traffic, drainage coordination, and pavement considerations).


  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (utilities, drainage, structures, traffic).


  • Ensure designs comply with relevant standards (e.g., RTA, AASHTO, DM standards).


  • Assist in reviewing contractor submissions and shop drawings where required.


  • Support site visits, inspections, and construction supervision activities.


  • Maintain proper documentation and project records.



Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field).
  • 0–1 year of experience in highway or transportation engineering (fresh graduates are encouraged to apply).


  • Basic knowledge of highway design principles and standards.


  • Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D (knowledge of MicroStation is a plus).


  • Understanding of local standards (e.g., RTA guidelines) is an advantage.


  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.


  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.


Preferred Skills


  • Exposure to BIM workflows and tools.


  • Basic understanding of traffic engineering and road safety principles.


  • Knowledge of pavement design and materials is a plus.


  • Internship experience in engineering consultancy or construction is advantageous.
