What's the role?

Official job title is Supply Chain Manager - Freight and Logistics and role will be based in Dubai, UAE.


This position will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of the company's worldwide freight and logistics operations. This role is pivotal in managing global supply chains, developing and implementing strategic warehousing solutions, and ensuring strict adherence to international trade regulations and export controls. The manager will lead a team to ensure efficient, compliant, and cost-effective movement of goods across borders.


Key responsibilities include:


Global Freight and Logistics Management


  • Strategize and optimize all transportation modes (air, ocean, road, rail) to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods globally.
  • Manage relationships with a global network of freight forwarders, carriers, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers.
  • Negotiate contracts and rates to secure favorable terms and service levels.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to logistics operations, such as transit times, on-time delivery, and cost per shipment, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Oversee the end-to-end shipment process, including documentation, customs clearance, and delivery tracking.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve logistical challenges, including delays, damages, and customs issues.

Warehouse Strategy and Operations


  • Develop and execute a global warehouse strategy that supports business growth and operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate and select warehouse locations, considering factors like proximity to ports, labor availability, and cost.
  • Oversee warehouse management, including inventory control, space utilization, and the implementation of best practices for safety and efficiency.
  • Implement and manage Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to improve inventory accuracy and operational flow.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., operations, procurement) to align warehouse operations with business needs.

Trade Compliance and Export Controls


  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all matters related to international trade compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal policies and procedures to ensure adherence to export controls regulations, including those from the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the Swedish Inspectorate of Strategic Products (ISP), as well as other relevant international bodies.
  • Manage the process of obtaining export licenses for controlled or dual-use goods, working with government agencies as required.
  • Conduct internal audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential compliance risks.
  • Stay current with changes in international trade laws, customs regulations, and sanctions, ensuring the company's policies are up-to-date.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on trade compliance best practices.

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • With 10 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management, preferably in the maritime or oil and gas industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading logistics teams and implementing logistics strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of logistics best practices and industry trends.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of transportation, warehousing, and inventory management principles.
