Field Technician – Marine Robotics Systems Role Overview

The Field Technician is responsible for the maintenance, installation, configuration support, and overall equipment readiness of marine robotic platforms and related systems. The role ensures that all platforms are mechanically and electrically prepared for field validation, testing, and deployment activities, working closely with Field Engineers to support disciplined and reliable execution.



Purpose of the Role

To maintain high equipment reliability and readiness in support of structured field validation, operational missions, and deployment activities.



Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on marine robotic platforms and associated equipment.



  • Develop, follow, and update maintenance schedules to ensure consistent preventive upkeep.



  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues in a timely manner.



  • Manage spare parts inventory, tools, and consumables required for operations.



  • Assist with deployment and recovery of marine vehicles and field equipment.



  • Set up, test, and verify sensors, communication systems, and onboard components prior to missions.



  • Monitor equipment condition during operations and support adjustments as needed.



  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, deployment records, and system checklists.

Experience Level
  • 2–8 years of hands‑on experience in marine, offshore, industrial, or electromechanical environments.



  • Experience supporting unmanned marine platforms, vessels, or offshore equipment is preferred.



  • Experience working in offshore or physically demanding field environments is an advantage.



Technical Skills
  • Strong mechanical assembly, installation, and repair skills.



  • Practical experience with mechanical and basic electrical systems.



  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.



  • Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.



  • Familiarity with marine deck operations, lifting practices, and safe equipment handling.



  • Basic understanding of marine power systems, batteries, connectors, and cabling.
