Job Summary

The Estimation Engineer – Construction Industry will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive and auditable cost estimates and tender submissions for construction projects. The role will support business development and project teams by developing detailed quantity take-offs, cost plans, risk assessments and commercial proposals, ensuring alignment with programme, technical and contractual requirements.



Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed and high‑quality estimates and tender documents for packages including civils, structural works, building services, fit‑out and specialist subcontract scopes.



  • Carry out accurate quantity take‑offs from drawings, specifications and BIM models and develop cost build‑ups using standard rates, supplier quotations and historical data.



  • Develop cost plans, elemental cost breakdowns and bill of quantities to support pricing, value engineering and commercial decision making.



  • Analyse subcontract and supplier quotations, negotiate prices where required and compare alternatives to optimise cost and programme outcomes.



  • Identify, quantify and document commercial and project risks, contingencies and assumptions; prepare risk registers and sensitivity analyses for tender submissions.



  • Collaborate with estimating, design, commercial and project teams to ensure scope clarity, design compliance and constructability; provide input to programmes and resourcing plans.



  • Prepare and present tender reports, bid summaries and management information to support go/no‑go decisions and contract negotiations.



  • Maintain and develop estimating databases, rate libraries and historical cost records to improve estimate accuracy and efficiency.



  • Ensure all estimates and tender documents are produced in accordance with company estimating procedures, quality standards and audit requirements.



  • Support post‑award activities including variation valuation, cost forecasting and claims preparation as required.




Scope of Role
  • Produce estimates for projects ranging from small works to medium/large construction contracts across multiple sectors.



  • Work closely with commercial managers, project managers and supply chain partners to deliver competitive bids and successful project mobilisation.



  • Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating practices, tools and governance within the commercial team.




Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent demonstrable experience.



  • Minimum 3–7 years’ experience in construction estimating or quantity surveying within contractor or consultancy environments in UAE.



  • Proficient in measurement and costing techniques, with experience of bill of quantities preparation and elemental cost planning.



  • Good commercial awareness, understanding of contracts and procurement routes, and ability to identify and quantify contractual risk.



  • Strong numerical, analytical and attention to detail skills with the ability to deliver accurate work to tight deadlines.



  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to produce clear tender documentation and present findings to stakeholders.



  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross‑functional teams and manage multiple bids concurrently.
